95 GT ignition.....

i was wondering if its normal for me to start my 95 GT and be able to remove my key while the engine is still running? i was just wondering if there is somethin wrong, or if it can lead to a worse prob?? nothin is wrong, i just have not seen anything like this on a 90+ car. My dad had a 68 GTO and his car did that, but i didnt know if my car was supposed to do that or not. Nothin looks out of place, it doesnt appear that it was "peeled" or anything....just wondering if its normal and if not, will it cause any problems doin that??? thank you all.....

sorry about bringing a thread from the dead but my now totaled 95 GT would let me take the key out if a wiggle it just before the shifter light comes on. Then i could turn it on without the key.
