ok so i just did a lim fix on my friends car, we went out to make sure every thing was ok...but while we were out we decided to play in the snow that st. louis has right now...anyway we were turning left, in the gas sliding...when the "move" was done...no power steering! we came back to the garage, the car is in the air and you can go stop to stop without hearing any power steering noise (the maxed out sound you hear at left or right steering stop/max out point)...im thinking pump. any suggestions before i go spend more money.?

take the cap off the power steering resevoir when you turn lock to lock. Sometimes you can see the pump take the fluid if it is working. But yes it sounds like a blown pump to me.

fluid is very discolored, and very little to no fluid movement

For me it was the rack...

for me it was the pump had ALOT of air in it....
try to rev the car to 1500 (no higher) in neutral while cranking the wheel and see if the steering comes back temporarily... if it does its probably just gonna take a bit of work to get all the air out...
