Is it possible to change the valve springs and retainers without pulling off the LIM? I would have to remove the top to get to the back ones. Anyone see this going bad? :)

sure is possible...theres a small clapm tool that you might be able to rent from murrays...it clamps the springs while its on the head...rockers off obviously...and you get the retainers out....be careful though, id hate to drop one of them into the motor...

Yes, thats what Im afraid of! So, I will need to take off the UIM to get to the back as well as the coil packs, correct?

no, u can leave the LIM on, just take off the valve covers...and FYI the new comp cams beehive springs will work on the integral seal/seals of the 3400, they are pn 26915 and they are awesome springs
ALSO not only will u need the spring compressor, you will also need an air valve holder, it screws into the spark plug hole, hooks up to shop ait and uses the air supply(not to be confused with the group that sings "im all out of love") to pressurize the cyl and keep the valves on the seats so they dont fall down into the cyl...that would be bad also
