Good luck with tuning. If you have any problems feel free to PM me. Im still a newb (ew hate that word) to DHP tuning but Id like to think I could figure it out with enough patience.
-edit-
Forgot to mention that Jerry made his tuner guide public a while back and can be found here:

Have you tried checking the pcm info or checking for DTC codes before you tried reading the bin file? They usually recommend doing that first to make sure you are connecting to the pcm properly. When you first plug in the tuner it asks you to register it and gives you a bunch of options to select like what port to use and stuff. If you selected a wrong one that would cause a communication problem.

Yeah, some people have had problems with certain usb to serial converters. I think there is one brand that works better than the others? I didn't want to deal with that which is why I specifically bought a laptop with a serial port. Anyway, it sounds like you have the right port selected if you can read dtc's and the pcm info. If it wasn't you wouldn't be able to communicate with the pcm at all. It must be something else.

The KEYSPAN US-19HS adapter is what is recomended.

Read the link that I posted about Jerrys tuner guide. It will give you a walkthrough of what you need to scan so you can make the changes you need.
To edit the bin file you have to open it with the Powertuner program that you installed. This will be the file that you pulled off the car when you did your registration. Then you scroll through the drop down menus and open the tables you wish to edit and enter your new values. There are many tables that affect many things and correspond sometimes to the way other tables function. If you are in doubt of what you are changing read the tuner guide and post here. You dont want to chase your tail or edit a table and cause your car to run crappy and then have to start over from the stock file.
One other thing. Dont save over your stock table! It is your backup plan in case you hit a major wall or mess something up to the point that you cant fix it. Always keep a copy of it on another hard drive or flash drive (I have mine saved on my laptop, each of my desktops hd's and my external) just in case something crashes. When you do your first BIN file edit remember to 'save as' something other than the name of your stock file.

A couple more things you might want to know:
-While writing DO NOT open a door, turn key off, have lights on, roll down windows... any sudden voltage drop can terminate the connect to the pcm in mid-write and potentially brick (make useless) the pcm.
-If something does happen, DO NOT, turn the key off... follow the recovery write procedure to attempt to save the pcm
-It's wise to have a spare pcm in case you brick one
.... Not so much tuning related advice, but following the aforementioned precautions will greatly reduce the chance of anything going wrong while writing... Trust me, bricking pcm's isn't fun.
Aside from that, Jerry's guide should get you properly tuned.

A spare PCM is a good idea. Ive nearly bricked mine a couple times now.

Yeah, I haven't had any problems with mine, but I did get an extra one just in case. Getting stuck out on the road or at the track with a dead pcm wouldn't be fun. :)

1.5's are junk... my little sister can do better.. lol
