well ive noticed a weird sound coming from underneath the hood ever since i put the autotrans interceptor in. the noise is coming from the right side. either somewhere up top or maybe the transmission. i thought that it couldve been the powersteering pump until i realized that the powersteering is on the left side and also, my power steering works. now i cant really figure out exactly where this sound is coming from, but its really annoying and its not like a screetching sound, i cant really explain it. does anyone know or have encountered this on their car. i have a pretty good idea it might be transmission, seeing as though i first noticed the noise when i installed the autotrans. ever since i installed the autotrans, i have had it set on low for pretty much everyday driving, and have actually turned it up close to full, when i was by this forest preserve open road. any help is appreciated.

if anything, im still under warranty, and can just take it in.

Mine is doing the EXACT same thing, it is Very annoying, and may be disconnecting it, the second i got it and installed it the noise appeared, i opened the hood, and it seems to be coming from the top of the trans, like where the trans oil opening is. Anyone else also having this happen??

I might be having the same problem, but urs doesnt sound as severe as mine yet... it started prolly a month and a half ago right after i put some new GTZ on the front... i thought it was jus the tires buzzing up to last week... the buzzing is getting worse... its losing its zip... and it makes a really weird "chunk" sound once and awhile that i can feel through the peddals, floor, and steering column... good part to the story is it goes to the shop on tuesday.... kinda scary considering that it only has 36k miles on it

well at least i think its just not my car. do you think thats normal. i mean, could that be the trans line just the sound of the increased pressure going through?? i dont know. Im almost positive now that it has something to do with the trans seeing as though it started when i installed the autotrans, and yours does it too in the same spot. Does anybody know if this sound is normal.

Not to be such a poo-poo'er, but what did you expect when you put this on? I guess you all missed the post about the B&M Trans Shift thingy. It was designed for the RWD auto trans and when you put it on a smaller FWD trans with less fluid capacity, the pressure is TOO much!

Ditto on the Interceptor. Do you *REALLY* think they actually made a change between this one and the one running on the larger 4T65 trans used in the GTP's? NOPE!

Increased line pressure is only good if you upgrade the valve body springs to handle the pressure properly. When I rebuilt the 700R4 for my Jeep, I learned A LOT about auto transmissions! It is a very delicately balanced system. If you increase fluid pressure, you MUST increase the spring pressures in the accumulators. They are your "shock absobers"" for the clutch mechanisms. Without upgrading them, you are "slamming" parts together and doing more damage than good.

There's my $0.02 ...

=( that we are screwed. All i know is that it did fix the hesitation from 1st to 2nd, but now it has that annoying noise, if its breaking something inside the trans ill take it off, but right now the trans seems fine.

Yeah, i agree. my brother had this for his auto z24(diff tranny) and it plugged right into mine and worked. So it really wasnt designed for either.

so what everybody is pretty much saying is, if you have a warranty its ok to keep on, but if you dont, then take it off to prevent long term consequences.

You can all do what you want to do! :D

Personally, now that I fully understand automatic transmissions, I would NEVER put anything like this on my car warranty or not! It isn't going to break it right away, but it placed HUGE amounts of undo stress on the internals and it usually fails right when the warranty runs out! At least it always does for me ...

And for those of you who have ever had an auto rebuilt, it starts at $1500! You can do it yourself for $1000 like I did, but don't make any plans for a week! It isn't hard, but there are thousands of parts!

Ok i have the SAME problem that no one can replicate....

For the record i do NOT have the auto trans interceptor or any type of shift kit

My car shifts very roughly going into 2nd gear...if i'm accelerating i can hear this "squeeking/ rubbing" noise, only when the car shifts gears. it sounds like 2 pieces of rubber bouncing together!

It's at the shop today, and they can't get the problem. figures. How come shops never get the same problems?? lol

Ha-ha-ha! A dealership trying to diagnosis a trans problem?! That's like taking an F-16 Falcon into Midas for exhaust work! ;)

I would suggest going to a reputable oil change shop and getting the fluid and filter replaced. You'd be surprised what a filter and fluid replacement can do! Also ask them what the fluid looked like (metal shavings, etc.). Jiffy Lube offers an auto trans fluid analysis service where they send it to a lab, etc. I have never done it or know anyone that has, but that is an idea.

If it still persists, take it to a dedicated auto transmission shop. Most will give you a free diagnosis.

actually craig that is an extremely great idea! I'm gonna make it a plan to head out and do that sometime soon.
