Don't say a V-8 swap can't be done! GM had this at the Dream Cruise in Motor City this year...

I would guess low 14's becasue the Alero is a fue hunderd LBS lighter than a Caddy.

GM Showcars are not designed to drive, just look good. That is why you will never see a 1/4 mile time for this car or any similar car. GM does make prototype engine applications on rare occasions (LS1's in an Impala and a Monte) but from outside the car they look like any other car off the lot. I'm not saying a road-worthy Northstar swap couldn't be done, but it would in no way be worth the cost and time. Sorry to dash hopes. Just spray and supercharge and be happy.

I've seen a LS1 RWD Alero before, so a Northstar really isn't that big of a deal to me... The one I mentioned looked stock from the outside also. Very nicely done.

I would never swap a 4.6 in my GA think of all the work it would take to make the thing fit

If I remember correctly (I just tried to verify this with no luck though), the Northstar engine is actually narrower overall than a 3800. Yep, that's right... a V8 is narrower than a V6. It has to do with the various other accessories and such mounted on the front of the engine. So in all reality, it wouldn't be that hard at all to fit a Northstar into a either a GA or an Alero.
