I'm going to start this thread for updates on my progress and any questions I have on the way.
I'm using the PowrTuner and the DHP 1.5 file to start my tuning.

So far I've adjusted the injector flow for the trailblazer injectors, imported the LS1 MAF table, raised the EGR Air Temp Disable and changed the EGR codes (P401, P403, P404, P405, P1404) to no reporting in the DTC Fault Type section.

As far as the codes go...do I also have to change them in the DTC Fault Enabled sectin also??

I also removed all the A.I.R. emissions crap (air pump, piping and solenoid) off of the car that was found on some of the 00' models. Does anyone know what codes I need to change for that?

Anything else I might be missing that needs adjustments?

I have tejohnsons good fuel spark and bad fuel spark tables if you want those to get a baseline for the VE tune. What do you think of the shift points with the 1.5 file? I really didnt care a whole lot for them so I went back to stock for now.

Have you downloaded Eddies Table Modifier Thingy yet? It modifies the VE table so you dont have to adjust a bunch of stuff in Excel.

1st thing I should tel you is that you should start with a 100% stock file then make changes for injectors, maf and deleted systems...

Before the S/C I had a DHP PCM 1.0 in the car and I really liked the changes on it(tranny, fan, limiter changes, etc.). So I figured I'd use the 1.5...seems similar to the 1.0 but without the timing changes.

1st thing I should tel you is that you should start with a 100% stock file then make changes for injectors, maf and deleted systems...

Why's that.....I compared the stock file to the 1.5 and found the following changes:
- Acc. - Fans - Class_2_Fan_Enable
- Acc. - Fans - Fan_1_Coolant_Temp
- Acc. - Fans - Fan_1_Coolant_vs_Vehicle_Speed
- Acc. - Fans - Fan_1_Keyoff_Coolant
- Acc. - Fans - Fan_1_Keyoff_Time
- Acc. - Fans - Fan_2_Coolant_Temp

- FUEL - TORQUE MGMT - TORQUE_ABUSE_DRIVE_INJECTOR_DISABLE

- SPARK - BASE TIMING - AIR_TEMP_SPARK
- SPARK - KNOCK SENSOR - KNOCK_RETARD_RECOVERY_RATE
- SPARK - SPEED/TIMING LIMITER - HIGH_MPH_LIMIT

Is there anything on here that will really effect tuning for the S/C???

I'm new to all the tuning end of this.....so I REALLY appreciate any and all help I get.

Yes, you need to change them in both sections.

Looked quick in my manual and it had codes P0410, P0412, and P0418 related to the air pump system. Since I never had an air injection equipped model I don't know if there is anything else in the pcm that needs adjusting like a temperature activation/deactivation point like the EGR has. You'll just have to give it a try and see if anything else pops up, but I don't think it should.

might need to use a different stock bin to start... i have tons so if you need some help let me know and I can help you out with this via pm

Thanks Aaron....I'll turn those other codes off and see what happens.

I have a stock 00' bin (I think I got it from you over at the PT forums ;)).....why would I need a different one?

My guess would be so that it cant see the AIR system at all and you dont have to worry about what codes to disable.

Oops...didn't reply to the rest of your post...LoL.

I would definitly liketo look at tejohnsons tables...send them to: LightningGA at gmail dot com

I do have Eddies Table Modifier but haven't played with it yet.

I didn't think of that....good idea!!!

Just an fyi... Tejohnson's car is turbo charged and has a totally different boost curve from what your SC will do. His fuel and spark tables will not be anything like what will work best for your car.

true....I'd still like to look at them.

Hey Aaron....I just noticed that you also have a 00' and you said that you didn't have any of the A.I.R. system on yours....would you mind sending me your stock bin file???

OK...I got a different 00' without the A.I.R. emissions crap on it (thanks Aaron) and I currently have no codes :D

Cars running and everything seems fine....scanned tonight for the first time out with the car...only about 10min. of data. Haven't had a chance to look it over at all though.

I want to get a wideband O2 setup......I've been considering one of the ones that can take the place of the narrowband sensor.

A few questions though:
- If I get one that is in addition to the norrowband one....where's a good place to weld in the bung...I have S&S headers and SLP piping???
- Any suggestions on which brand and model to get????

I just installed a LC-! wideband and wired it in as a narowband with perfect results. PM me if you want all the instructions.

I decided to go with the PLX Devices AFR + DM-5 52mm Gauge Combo. I'm going to have a new bung put closer to the bottom of the down pipe and will most likely use it as the narowband O2 for the PCM and just plug the original location on the S&S headers. Since it only gets readings from the front cylinders.

FYI....I ordered it from www.ExtremePSI.com This is also where I ordered all of my couplers also. Great people to deal with and very quick shipping. ;)

OK.....I finally got my PLX wideband O2 sensor in and I'm running REALLY lean at idle and when just cruising....is that normal????
I thought I was running really rich at idle because I have a strong fuel smell from the exhaust when I'm idling in the garage but the gauge says other wise.

I'm hoping on getting a few scans soon...so I can post them up for advice.

I also just got my tranny cooler installed...I was seeing temps up near 215-220 on a 90deg day before
Haven't had it out long enough to see where the temps are now.

What kind of numbers are you seeing? What do your fuel trims look like?

I haven't started scanning with the wideband connected to the powrtuner but the gauge leans completely out (19+) and then says "LEN" and then "AIR".

When I'm on the throttle and hitting boost I'm seeing 12-10 afr, I've changed the bin file for the Trailblazer 28lb injectors and the LS1 maf other then that it's pretty much stock as far as fueling goes.

I'm going to try to get a decent scan this weekend with the w/b connected to the PT and then I'll post it up.

OK....after looking around on the PLX forums I found this:

Under normal driving conditions you should see 14-15 AFR

Under heavy acceleration you should see 12-13.5 AFR

Under deceleration you should see lean or AIR

So seeing lean or air while deceleration is normal...I'm probably running rich under heavier acceleration and slightly rich under regular driving.

I see anywhere from 14.5-15.0 on mine at idle, and under decel. I think they run it that lean for fuel economy, and it's not supposed to have KR then because it's not under any load. At light and mid throttle it should be in fuel trim cells 1 and 2 I believe, and there you should see consistent 14.7 range plus or minus a little. Cell 3 should be heavy acceleration and you should see 13's or lower there. Stock is 13.5 I think? Probably want to set the PE AFR in the low 12's somewhere.

Just glancing through, I ran mine pretty rich, and it would stay at ~14.7 - 14.9. If you are using my spark tables, keep in mind that I would see 15PSI by 3600 RPM. My tables are lowered in the higher (last 4 rows or so, by the last few columns) RPMs for safety, and I would run rather rich with all the R&D I was attempting. I'm certain you can eek much more out of the spark tables.
