I was wondering what would cause the ABS system to go off as Im slowing down and turning into my driveway( which has a curb). Im pretty sure that is what is happening, as my tire hits the curb (even going real slow) it makes that noise and the break peddle gets spongy. It doesnt happen all the time though. Its an 2001 grand am Thanks for any help

The ABS goes off when the car senses that the brakes are locking up. If you are braking, turning, and going over a curb at the same time, you may just happen to be applying the correct force vectors to make the wheel speed sensor trigger the ABS to arm at that particular moment.
It has happened to me before.
However, if the ABS begins to come on more and more frequently, under diminishing force conditions, it could be a sign that the wheel bearing (hub assembly) needs to be replaced. The hub assembly has a plug for the ABS sensor.
