I HAVE ONLY FOUND 2 GRAND PRIX WEBSITES, one in michigan only good to michigan residence .

And on gp.com very very little on 2007 grand prix's.

I copied a list of what i thought were the most important RECALLS/TSB's, list below. but it would be expensive to get more detail info on each RECALL OR TSB .

Can anyone lend some help with furthering my knowledge on them and other things about my 2007 GRAND PRIX ,3.8L-3800 series III car.

Alot about GRAND AM's but not much it appears on 2004 to 2007 GRAND PRIX's.

05-06-01-035A OCT 07 Engine - Excessive Oil Consumption
Rare, only heard of it happening once.

07-06-01-016A SEP 07 Engine - Internal Noise/Damage After Oil Filter Change
Basically says to install oil filter properly or engine damage can result. Bulletin applies to all GM vehicles.

01-02-32-001L AUG 07 Steering - Clunking Felt/Heard From Steering Column
Steering shaft. Happens to all W-bodies at some point.

03-06-03-001D AUG 07 Starting System - Starter Cranks After Key Released
Intermittent extended crank on ECM controlled starter vehicles. Normal. Applies to all GM vehicles with ECM controlled starter.

07-08-43-005A JUN 07 Wipers/Washers - Poor Windshield Washer Performance
Misrouted washer hose. Never ran into this problem.

07-06-04-019 JUN 07 Engine Controls - MIL ON/Reduced Power/DTC P2138
You have to have a water leak on the driver's side at the a-pillar/windshield area
AND a faulty seal on a connector in the dash which MIGHT cause water to get in and set an APP code. Rare.

03-06-04-030E JUN 07 Fuel System - Driveability Issues/MIL ON/DTC's Set
Clogged injectors cause problems. Injector flush good. NOT TANK ADDITIVES. Use Top Tier Gasoline and this isn't much of a concern. Applies to all GM vehicles with fuel injectors. =p

02-06-03-008C MAY 07 Charging System - Lights Dim/Low Voltage Display
Changing electrical loads cause voltage drop. Normal. Applies to all GM vehicles.

99-01-39-004B MAY 07 A/C - Odors In Hot/Humid Conditions
It happens sometimes. Applies to all GM vehicles.

01-07-30-042E MAY 07 A/T - 2-3 Upshift or 3-2 Downshift Clunk Noise
Normal

07-03-10-008 APR 07 Tires - Slight/Mild Tire Feathering information
Normal.

02-08-42-004A MAR 07 Instruments - Reduced PRNDL Display Visibility
Automatic light control does this sometimes. Normal.

05-02-32-007D MAR 07 Steering - Steering Gear Leaks/Moan or Groan Noise
Sometimes PS fluid gets low because its a pain to check/add. Fill first then recheck.

07-06-04-008 MAR 07 Fuel Gauge - Reads Backwards After Sensor Card Change
Don't use part for 2004 in 2006 car.

04-07-30-013B FEB 07 Engine, A/T - Shift/Driveability Concerns/MIL ON
Over-oiled K&N BAD.

etc etc. Basically the W-body cars have few faults other than being on a chassis that's a throwback to the 80s.

04-07 Grand Prix's are decent cars. Nothing to get excited about but it will get you around. I had alot of stupid problems on my supercharged 06. Oil consumption issues - ended up being bad valve seals. Strut squeaking - changed bearing plate and strut. Blown passenger speaker - replaced. Lots of squeaking interior pieces - many trips to the dealer to fix. Basically just a typical GM vehicle that I was happy to sell a year later.

HOW DID YOU LEARN OF THE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM . LEAKS OR JUST YOUR REGULAR CHECKING OR ANY INDICATIOR LIGHT ETC INSIDE CAR .

HOW EASY WAS IT WITH GETTING IT FIXED UNDER WARRANTY . and did how did you and they handle the squeaky strut issue. I HAVE FULL FACTORY WARRANTY PLUS EXTENDED. so would like to catch it early if i have that problem. sorry forgot i had caps on. thanks for heads up too.

I figured out the oil consumption problem when I checked my oil a few weeks after I bought the car. I went back to the dealer and told them that my oil was not completely full like when I bought the car. They made me pay for an oil change (which was BS) and then they monitored the oil level in the car by having me stop back in 500 miles. They saw the oil was low, just like I told them and then I talked to the mechanic that said it was probably the valve seals since there was not any external oil leakage. Getting it fixed was easy other than the fact that I was really mad that my new car had to be fixed within months of me buying it.

well i bought my 2007 regular 3.8 . no supercharger. about 2 weeks ago. and as part of it checkup they do on the car , before me taking delivery of it .

as part of that multi point checkup was they did an oil change. . so they should not require me to do another oil change would they .

now i have not check the oil yet . i will do that sunday. to see if it is low. not sure how many weeks i should go before check the level and if low report it to them.

or how many miles do i let pace before talking to them IF I HAVE LOW OIL LEVEL problems. what do you think .

or do they have this problem solved for 2007 yr grand prix base 3.8

Dude, I am not trying to freak you out. I was just telling you of the problem that I had, not of the problem you are going to have.

As far as oil consumption. I am a believer that no oil consumption is what should happen. I have a 06 ford diesel truck with 131,000 miles that doesn't burn any oil. As well as never had any other car that used oil between 3,000 mile oil changes. But, GM does have a written policy on the amount of oil that "is considered acceptable." Unfortunately, I can't find the paper right now with the specification. My advice would be to check the oil as frequently as you like after the car has sit for at least 15 minutes on level ground and if the oil is low go and talk to a service advisor at the dealer.

Here's the official oil-level checking procedure. Run the engine to operating temperature through driving and them park the vehicle, shut the engine off. Wait fat least five minutes for oil to drain back to the sump and check the level. If you're losing more than 1 qt of oil in 800 miles you have an oil consumption problem or a leak.

That's What the dealership is going to go by. What they may want to do is start an oil consumption test. Where they'll change the oil and filter, add the proper amount of fluid and mark the dipstick, oil filter, and oil fill cap. After a certain amount of miles they'll have you swing by and they'll check the oil level.

well we bought our 2007 grand prix with 31,501 klms on it and now it has 35,at change klms ( metric cdn ). i check oil today oil coverd first ( correction ) >> 4 holes in dip stick but not the firth / last hole.

so added a bit of oil . out of a 946 ml bottle of oil , i still have LEFT in bottle 700ML. car bought 1 month ago. SO SOUND BAD OR GOOD.
