What a game, really good... McNair hung tuff as he has all season to push the Titans down the field in OT. WTH was the defense doing McCareins caught two HUGE passes for 15 and 20 yards to put them right in range for the FG.

*And the rule of roughing the kicker is SUCH BS. What was the defensive guy supposed to do once his momentum was directed at the ball... the kicker can just walk in front of him and it's roughing.... bah!

*Liked to see McNair pull it out... Now can McNabb and Philly???

Good game. Wish I could have seen the entire game but I was at work for the first half plus most of the 3rd quarter. Fun to watch. It was funny how the Titans kicker kicked the ball after the Steelers called a time out and then all the fireworks went off. Then the Titans kicker misses it. Too funny. Then the stupid call by the ref. I mean seriously, where it he going to go? It's not like he can stop and it's not like the kicker couldn't take a step back. Sucks to be a Steelers fan today.... damn

Very nice game. WTF is up with Cower tho, I mean the kicker would have had to miss 3 consecutive kicks for that call to have been a bad one....I seriously doubt that would happen from 10 yards out....he needs to take a chill pill.

Huh? It's my understanding that if you miss a field goal, the ball goes over to the next team at the line of scrimmage, no matter what down it was.

Field goal
1. All field goals attempted (kicker) and missed from beyond the 20-yard line will result in the defensive team taking possession of the ball at the spot of the kick. On any field goal attempted and missed where the spot of the kick is on or inside the 20-yard line, ball will revert to defensive team at the 20-yard line.

If it were a college game, your statement would be true (and I think that's a new rule this last year).

if you do it on any other down but fourth I believe it is similar to an incomplete pass

That was one of the best games I've seen, and yes I am a Steelers fan. The first 2 Titan's td's were horrible to see, but the Steelers did come back and played a fantastic game IMO. It was even better being on a coast guard boat watching it. :) They may have lost, but they gave Tennessee one helluva hard time and didn't give up. Can't believe the season is over, football needs to be around longer, a few months just isn't enough for me.

Yes, if the ball crosses the line of scrimmage on a FG try, it is the end of the drive no matter what the down is.

In the CLE game earlier in the season, CLE blocked the first attempt, but the ball never crossed the LOS so they got to kick it again since they still had an extra down.

They need to do away with that penalty, I can see keeping the "Roughing the kicker" call which is much more contact.. usually having to do with the plant foot while the kicker is still in a kicking motion, but to make that iffy of a call in that situation is absurd. Nedney could just as easily been penalized for "simulating a roughing the kicker call" which would have been no foul on Washington and a 15 yarder on Nedney. Yes, that is a rule. However, to expect someone who does not even know what plays are reviewable and which ones aren't to be able to get that one right is asking a bit too much.

I always thought that the Refs were not supposed to do something that would alter the outcome of the game. If Washington does not brush up against Nedney's ankle, Nedney still misses... but giving Nedney another chance after he choked the first time alters the game. You don't see a bench minor being called in OT of a playoff hockey game for this exact reason. Common sense says that something so minor should not determine a 4.5 quarter football game.

The picture shows the true contact before Nedney spun around, stepped back into Washington, threw his arms in the air, flopped to the ground, and probably yelled "hey ref" on the way down. Contact this slight on a kicker is overlooked most times.

But, it was a good game. I think Bell would have made the difference. With a couple key moves in the secondary, the Steelers will have a very good team next year.

I just think it's bad when the Titan's Kicker AFTER the game, blantently admits that he was "ACTING" about how bad he got hit.

That was a case where I don't think the ruling on the field was fair...granted it is a CORRECT call. I just think there needs to be something done when games of this caliber are on the line. This goes for the Giants & SF as well...

...and I think Cowher is the man. I love how he's so reserved until things he thinks are BS...come about. Gotta love a coach going, "I saw a kicker who had kicked the ball and taking a couple of steps and Dewayne (Washington) sliding on the ground and fell into him. For a game to be decided on that call is ludicrous. For me to have to explain to an official what’s reviewable and what’s not, that’s wrong. Fine me if you want. That’s the truth. I’m not going to blame anything on this game, we had our opportunities to win this game and we didn’t. We had something taken away from us today too."

I think it's all good...still would've love to see them go all the way (to the Super Bowl)...then whatever happens, happens.

Oh well, I won't know what to do with myself on sundays anymore! lol

OK, I didn't realize that the rules were like that now. The announcers were making it sound like they could just rekick. In any case, if they let just a small hit go on the kicker then they would have to let em all go and you get yourself a nice can of worms there, so I could understand making the call anyway. But refs are getting rediculous with this crap.
