PCM/ECM question????

Where is it located on a 2001 GAGT. Under the Dash Or under the hood? I want to get a ASE chip for my car back home. ( I am in Alaska and my car is in Minnesota) I want my brother to take the PCM out but he cannot find it. I thought it may be under the passenger side dash. If it is please let me know what would be the best way to get at it.:)

The PCM is located under the dash on the driver's side of the vehicle. You will need to remove the hush panel to gain access. The PCM resides inside a plastic sleeve, essentially directly above the hood release lever. There are 2 large plastic plugs attached to it which must be disconnected (held in by 7mm bolts) before you can remove the PCM. The PCM module itself is grey in color with a silver lid, about 8"x6"x3".

My brother just called me and said he found a black box located under the Passenger side dash with about a hundred wires coming out of it. What is this? He thought it was the PCM???

That's the BCM.

Yep.. the PCM has about 3x as many wires coming out of it as well :/
