He is just going to have to lose the controls there really isnt anything that you can do with out major mods being done seeing that it a lease car I really wouldnt start cutting all the wires up. How long is the lease for is it really worth putting all the money in to a car your not going to keep. I would just get a line converter and bump it from there. If it has the monsoon in it. It sound pretty good. If you need to know what wires to tap off of just let me know.

You will not loose the steering wheel controls if you buy a major brand hu with an adapter called an swi-x. It is a steering wheel interphase made for such a problem. It will work with Pioneer, Sony, JVC and I am pretty sure Alpine. You can get the adapter at best buy or circut for $60. It uses an ir eye that is positioned to the front pannel of the radio(wich must come with a remote or have it as an option). Then it sends the mesage from the steering wheel button to the hu. If you have more questions just postem'.

Can't you just buy a wiring harness from best buy or cir. city.
Why would you want to cut up wires on a leased car? Did I miss something?:duh:

yeah your right BMOBYLE, you shouldnt be cutting the wires whether its leased or not, thats ghetto. You buy a wiring harness at a stereo place duh, its plug and play.

couldnt he save hassle and use 2 (1 male, 1 female) harnesses, that way he wouldnt have to cut any wires

if he just wants to hook up a line converter up to it why would you waste the money on a wiring harness. You dont have to cut anything all you have to do is buy some tap clamps that you put your colored wire into and the converter wire into and close it with some pliers. doesnt cut the wire just skins the plastic back. All you would need is 4 of them to hook the converter up. one for the 2 speaker wires on the right side and one for the 2 wires on the left. hide the converter behind the carpet where the amp is and run the rca out to the amp.

You both are going at this all wrong!! First of all in his first post he said "wants to upgrade head unit" right!!
Second of all high in's sound like A$$!!
Be a man buy a good head and use low level in's.
anybody will tell you rca's destroy hi in's or converter box JUNK!!
And you don't have to go nuts now adays either, just keep it simple like JVC, PIONEER, or Alpine it would sound fine with a good amp and sub. The best is to find a head that has all the level adjustments in it including the sub level adjust.
Don't hack wires don't use crappy crimpstickers the dealer won't really know when he 's done with the lease but do it right would ya;)
