View Full Version : Re-gluing rear view mirror

After my rear view mirror fell off, it left a piece of clear plastic or rubber where it was attached to the windshield. Am I supposed to scrape that off and glue the metal piece onto the windshield? Do I leave it on and glue the metal piece to it?

Go to a parts store and git a glue kit for reattaching the rearview mirror. They are like 3 bucks.
1.Take a dry erase marker and mark the outside of the windsheild where the rubber (glue) peice is so you know where to attach the mirror again.
2.Scrape off the old adhesive with a razor blade and clean it so its all off.
3. Follow the instructions on the back of the new adhesive kit

So I do have to scrape off that rubber/glue piece and glue the metal directly to the windshield. Right?

Yes you do have to take that off.

Thanks. I guess that's why it fell off when I glued it to that rubber piece.
