might be getting one soon with 149k miles on it for a second car. undecided right now but have been dieing to have a beeter and if i got it, you know damn well id offroad for a lil bit
but anywhoo, my question is how are they in winter? i only live less than a mile from my work, but to get there, its all flat, then goes up a long steep hill that i guess never gets plowed in winter, and multiple people i guess have to get pulled or something, so in other words its hell, and i dont wanna submit my gorgeous GA to that. has no clue if its the 4.0 or the 5.2 but as soon as i find out mor details, ill clue you in

Buddy of mine had a Grand Cherokee, that thing was a pos. Didn't do that well off road, was loud, and not that big inside. Might as well get a Cherokee, they last forever. See member : Vipergstr (I think)

Cherokee with the 4.0 is the ****! I had a 92 as a first car, the thing was indestructible. My only issue was the in the slightest amount of slick snow the 4wd was required or you would be kissing the taillights pretty quickly, once you kicked the 4wd on though there was no stopping it. I miss that thing.

Isnt the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee the same thing. Just like a trim choice?

No. The Cherokee was made more for offroad, the Grand Cherokee was made mostly as a "grocery getter". Plus the Cherokee's largest engine was the 4.0 liter I-6 and the GC had the option of a V-8.

this is the reply i just got when i asked what all was wrong the the GC (grand Cherokee):::
"I am not sure what GC is but everything works. The air all of the power windows as well. I have no problems with any of that stuff. I spent 600 in the last four weeks I had the battery replaced, the transmission lines in the back were replaces, the seal on the transmission was replaces as well as all of the brake components were replaced (pads and roters) on the back two tires. They said that there is something wrong with the emergency brake cable on the back tires but that doesn't effect anything for me so I haven't gotten that fixed yet. I think that it needs front brakes not sure if it is just the pads or not the tires should be good for a few months into the winter. The interior is very clean there is one small rip on the passenger seat that you can kind of see on the picture that I sent. The heat blows hot and the air cold. Sometimes the check engine light comes on but I had that checked and it is just a wire that is loose or something. Thats about all I can think
of. I take very good care of it and change the oil all of that stuff when needed. Its a very good running truck for the miles and the year of it. "

What is he asking for it? If it is the 4.0 I would consider it if the price was reasonable. I would not buy the v8, the straight six makes more than enough power for that vehicle and still gets close to 20 mpg. Mine did at least.

Hey, it's my Jeep! Got a '96 Cherokee Country...same wheels, same colors. 190k miles and counting. 4.0L HO. It's my second jeep. My last one was a 93 Sport 2-door 5spd. Loved it. Flipped it and it was still driveable so I bought a second one.

Get the Wrangler. The Cherokee with 150k on the clock is a time bomb.

Grand Cherokee (first gen) = ZJ

Jeeps are pretty much unstopable in the snow and 318's are damn good motors, my 97 dakota has 230,000 miles and doesn't use a drop of oil, now gas on the other hand is the complete opposite lol
