oh man that is a nice little ride...exactly like mine aside front he sc/t add ons. Price is a little high i think but the fact that you probably know the car inside out, can predict the problems goes a long way. Man, that is a really nice car and its exactly like mine, black coupes will always have a special place in my heart....

Not too bad I guess.

Mine was $10,500 for an '02 with < 30,000 miles though.

Of course I didn't have the SC/T hood, spoiler, upgraded HU or steering controls

I thought about that too, but my car is real beat up and terrible condition, but i like it...And the only thing i want to change about my car is i wanted it in 2dr and leather..So this is exactly wat im looking for really. Black is good too, cuz i only like our cars in black and white.

But on the other hand(financially for me) i just changed my car insurance around, so im saving about 220 a mo there...plus my car is payed off so saving 365/mo. there...So im pretty sure i can keep my payments under 500 a month lol...

I know my insurance will go up tho because its a newer car..

mmm i do think its little overpriced tho

im likin the constructive criticism. thanks guys. Im going to email him a offer of 10.5 and see what he says. If he says yes, ill call my insurance and get a quote for that car, to make sure i can budget it all.

I think im going to try to purchase some sort of powertrain warranty for the LIM problem, even tho its supposedly fixed on 03+ ga's

just sent him a email...i did a kbb and got 11300. So this price doesnt seem too bad really. Not to mention, now that i think about it, the car has 54k miles, which averages out to 11,5xx a year miles. Its a 04, but was released in 03 really...

So i sent him a offer of 11 even...I think im going to see it saturday morning. Its in PA so its like a hour from me.

10.5 or walk. This is a buyers market in just about every sector. If they don't take it, you'll find another (and they know it)-- unless they are giving you a deal on your trade in.

07-29-2008, 11:30 PM
as posted by everyone above, negotiate the price and get it to com down or dont do it. I got my 04 two years ago with only 1000 miles for and it was still 1000 dollars more than that. I am also gonna say talk it down to 10.5 or 11.

Not my fault that even before you post the thread you have to put a disclaimer in your question because you can't see you're oblivious to how to spend money and pay appropriate fair market price. Don't give me sh1t for your shortcomings.

Car's way overpriced. I couldn't sell my 2004 GAGT1 with 8500 miles, in 2005, for $12750. This car sure as hell isn't worth $11,xxx 3 years later. .....and going on 5 model years old on a discontinued, aged platform when it's sticker was $23k.

No more than $8750. Dealer paid auction, or trader about $7500 for the car. They're still making a decent profit.

Don't pay more than $9,000 for that car. I would honestly suggest trying another model. Think of how bored you will be if you have to have this car for 3-4 more years.

For as many threads ive seen(and opened) where you specifically bash the person for even the thought of doing/buying what they have asked, i think it was a fair opening statement. Altho your constructive criticism is what i was looking for. The guy said that someone just traded it in. Only has had 1 owner. But saying 8750 i think is a bit of a lowball. KBB is stating 11xxx for it. Now yea i know life doesnt revolve around kbb, so even if you were to lowball kbb, 8750 is kinda low for this vehicle imo.

But thanks none the less. And as far as obvlivious on how i spend my money? This isnt the 1st time you have said this to me, and as i said last time, you have 0 idea of how i spend my money. Obviously im spending it right if i live the livestyle i live. I never stated i am going to buy it...I just know that some people on here are smart and will give constructive criticism. Ive never personally bought a car...

Take your 12,000 and plant it somewhere else. I like GA's, but if I were to purchase yet another car, I can guarantee you it may be another Pontiac (GTO), but it wouldn't be a GA.
But if you, like, super-dee-duper want another GA, go for it, dude.

... The GTO is for sale. Kinda pointless with the STS now. (aside from the whole manual thing) - XLR is leased, goes back in OCT. There's a few others yet, just not listed.

More on topic, I'm surprised a Grand Am actually holds its value that well, even edmunds said 8k for it.

KBB is a fntasy land, and doesn't even have a shread of relevancy anymore. You want reality when talking to a dealer, talk black book wholesale.

Even if the Bible said this car is worth $11,xxx ... reality (ie. what they sell for in real life and what one pays) is high $8k, low $9k.

If I've questioned your spending decisions previously, and am doing it again, what does it tell you about how you express those actions? ;) But by all means, go pull a williamGT on the car, I really don't give a sh1t. It doesn't effect my bank account.

OT:
How do you like the STS-V? I was under-impressed when I drove it. I think with 500+ hp on tap, the thing is lacking in the "balls" department. I had it in competition mode, and still struggled to break the ass end free on turns (with 1-3 passengers), much less when trying to brake-torque. I will give it straight-line nastiness though-- 0-100 came scary fast! I think the car has a lot of potential to be a monster with the right exhaust and a tune, though. Definitely can run with an M3 and maybe M5, not sure about M6... for $75grand though, I'd expect it to blow both the lower M's away.

KBB doesn't mean crap...what is that car selling for wholesale in your area? Thats what the car is worth and there is no such thing as low balling it too much the worst they can do is say no and you walk out. I'd say either sell this to me for $8500 or let it sit on the lot a few more weeks then ship it off to auction and make probably even less than that.

But it's still nice to look at!

I see minez every morning... as I walk to the bus ;crap lol

Seriously though, I posted a link in the PW thread about some guy (IDK where) that got an '06, 27k miles GTO for under 17grand. Now's the time to buy a car like that, since low MPG sports cars are in the same class as SUV's right now- no one's buying, and many are looking to sell. And if you hold onto it, you'll have some residual on the thing after a couple years once people get used to $4 a gallon gas.

In a straight line the STS is just silly fast for a car of it's size (probably faster than the GTO). From what the people on the Cadillac forums are saying the computer is still intervening quite a bit, even with the competition mode or with Stabilitrak "off". To really get it going, you'd probably have to disconnect the EBCM or disconnect a wheel speed sensor. I have yet to take it in to get the PCM, TCM and Nav re-flashed, I've heard that they help wonders.

The motor also responds VERY well to mods, I've heard of 15+ HP just from some new intake piping. Also they run a little rich (no wonder the MPGs are in escalade territory) so a tune helps immensely, big HP gains there too. The problem with the go-fast parts is that once you say STS-V, the price goes up.

Overall it's a big HP car that can still be civilized for daily driver duties.

Oh, and I feel sorry for the poor sap that paid $80k+ for it when in two years and 18,000 miles later you can get it for right about $30K
