you want bolt on speed, go with giggle gas, its fun while it lasts...couple hundred bucks and add a few extra ponies...then when it blows that will give you more of a reason to buy a 3400 and use that instead...better platform to work off of and build it from there

i wish i could have got a 3.4. im actually getting a new engine put in as we speak. my cyclinder head gasket blew out and they told me it would be like 1500 to fix, so i decided to get a new engine. i found another 3.1 with 28 000 miles on it and paid $1000 for it. when i asked about the 3.4 though they said i would have to get modded mounts and a new tranny. im going to college (Mizzou) next week so i didnt have time for any of that. so now im left to a 3.1 engine that could use some hp gain. my next project is a dual exaust system. i would tell you what kind, but id prolly get laughed at :)

umm you wouldnt need a new trans first off, and second the 3400 should just drop right in, unless im high or something...FYI 3100 - 3400 same engine externally

Yep, it's a direct swap. I actually know a few people who have done it. Really the only thing you need to do is reprogram the computer because the 3400 uses larger injectors and if you use the 3100 injectors on the 3400 it will run lean.

I'd cuss out the focker that told you that the 3400 wouldn't fit.... lol

Ditch the overweight rims and you'll notice a jump in quickness
