I was wondering if anyone has found / seen a non-fiberglass SD or SC/T style hood.
Was talking to a body shop about getting this on when I get a new custom paint job done, and they highly reccomended against the fiberglass since they "never come just right" especially with waves in them that need to be worked alot to get them right.
Any thoughts?
Has anyone seen any differences between the quality of the SC/T and the SD? And is PFYC the best place to go?
Thanks

the dealership. It is worth the extra money to buy a OEM hood what you save on aftermarket you will pay for in bodywork trust me I just went through this.

Ive seen the SC/T design via OEM. The SD is a completely different creation though, correct?
I want the SD design so bad, but I dont think I want to sacrifice the quality for a fiberglass hood.
Anyone seen OEM SD hoods? (Or is that a non existant item)

OEM SC/T hoods are made of composites and are not entirely 100% fiberglass.
OEM SD hoods do not exist.
What material are you looking for for a hood that isn't fiberglass? Other than OEM materials which are metals, you have fiberglass, poly and carbon fiber for the most part. I think your bodyshop is just bull****ting you.

I found an OEM SC/T that is listed as sheet metal.
I assumed the SD, yeah, would have to be fiberglass if I really want it.
I cant find a good racing/rally stripe layout that I like on the SC/T hood though =/

That's because GAs shouldn't have stripes. :)
And I've got a fiberglass SC/T hood, the bodyshop had to blocksand it and such but it still came out cheaper than an OEM hood.

Yeah yeah, but I'm doing a rediculous Virginia Tech car -- and I need a two-tone layout. I havnt found any good two-tone shemes I've liked yet

I haven't heard of anyone having bad trouble with a SD hood. All OEM SC/T hoods are fiberglass and while they may require some sanding I don't think that either of them are going to give you trouble. However, if you buy a "cheaper" hood it may not come out "quite right" and require lots of sanding.
