Let the madness begin...

MUAHAHAHAAAAAA!

Bought on sale at Sears. It's a MIG setup, runs on 120volt, 30-90amp at 60Hz, adjustable current and wire feed speed. It's reversible polarity so it can be used with or without shielding gas, with either solid or flux core wire in three different sizes. It came with a cart (which is actually nice) a face shield (which is cheesy) and some .030" flux core wire. I just need to buy a good helmet first, and the gas tanks and gear to run them, then whatever sizes/types wire I plan on using.

The center section of my exhaust sits too low and hits all the speed bumps around here, so it needs to be raised up, and I think I want to change the muffler and tips too. So first project is to make some changes to my exhaust from the headers back. Speaking of headers...

I recently sent the headers out to get re-coated. The car was down for a while due to some problems with the crane rockers, which I'll update on later. The original coating on the headers was coming off in some spots and showing some surface rust in others, so I sent them to jet-hot to be stripped and coated with their sterling extreme ceramic. It's not as shiny as their standard sterling, but has a higher heat tolerance and as retains more heat, so it's better for boosted cars. So far I'm very happy with it! I noticed an immediate difference in under hood temps.

Only other thing to note is I cleaned up the inside of the ports a bit before I sent them out for coating. There where a few bumps protruding from the welds on the inside and a few splatters, so I ground those down even with the tubes, and blended the edges of the flange ever so slightly to get them closer to the edges of the stock gaskets in an effort to reduce turbulence coming out of the heads. They came out looking pretty good.

And here's a pic of the new scorpion SBC rockers I'm using in place of the cranes. I'm also rocking a WOT-Tech ported LIM now. There where many other issues and modifications to deal with pertaining to the rockers, but I'll get into that more later when I have more time.

Cool, I like that cart a lot.

I have a crappy wire-feed gasless from harbor freight. good for around the house stuff and mockups, and was fun to learn on.

Headers looking solid :)

Nice, I use a Lincoln welder that's similar to your craftsman. Works great for everything that I'll ever need to weld (so far at least.) The rocker setup looks hot!

I can't believe those headers have round ports?!? I thought they would've had the D-Ports like the heads.

Thanks guys. :) Current plans for it are just some exhaust mods, and take it in to work to fix a few things we need to weld on the trucks. Maaaaaaybe some turbo manifolds in the future (for me or someone else) if I have time to mess around with it. ;)

Cliff, yeah all the headers available for the 3400 only come in standard round port. Ben over at 60v6 had some header flanges you could buy with D-shaped ports on them, but that was the only way... have to make them your self. And all the tubing only comes round anyway, so you'd have to find a way to taper them to a D shape to match the port AND they have to make a 90 degree turn as soon as they exit. Would be kinda tough I think.

Matt, thats actually my buddy's garage. I live there though and I fixed up the garage for him
so he lets me park on one side. lol
