Hi all
So here's what's happening with my beloved grand am now, it's started to rust over the rear wheels (I've seen this happen on a few, very disappointing). I've checked on having the panel patched/painted - but in Alberta everything costs a bloody fortune and I'm not willing to drop 3K on a car who's days are numbered.

What I'm wondering, is if anyone has been able to find a wheel well moulding that might cover the rust (so I can feel cool again until I find a newer GA), just looking for something that would cover 1/5" of rust at the very top of the wheel well.

Thanks yo

That sucks, but yeah it's bound to happen. Rust doesn't care what kind of car you have. Is it possible to just tape off the area, sand it down to remove the rust and hit it with some primer and then color match the car? Your rust spot doesn't sound very big.

They do make those chrome accent pieces that go around the wheel wells but I don't think they look too good. Other people might have their own idea. However, this won't get rid of the rust, just cover it up which will allow more rust to form. I'd try to take off the rust. Do it right so no more rust shows.

usually what we did at the shop is we grinded down the loose rust threw some fiberglass filler (its just bondo with fiberglass in it) and that would hold up for a solid 3 months. if we actually got paid to do it right we would weld in new metal but no one ever paid us to get it done right.

that might be one of your options.

would usually cost like 200 bucks so if you wanna go that route
