I'm not sure the best place to post this...apologies if this is a horrible place.
Does anyone have any reccomendations for good places to get customized vehicle coverage? I'm having a hard time finding anyone that will insure me over $5,000 of custom coverage.
eSurance - $4k max
PROGRESSIVE - $5k max
GEICO - Rejected me completely after hearing it was an '01 GAGT
AllState - Still up in the air
Nationwide - Looks like they'll cover me
Just wondering what people use.
I've got about $14,000 worth of stuff to insure for replacement on the car (probably more, but I'm conservative and including depreciation)
Thoughts?

I'd say if you're daily driving a $3500 car with $14,000 worth of accessories in it, you need to reconsider some things in life...
If you treat the car specifically as a show car, and don't drive it, you might be able to work out some sort of deal where it is treated as an asset to be covered under your home owners insurance.

Pretty much, you aren't going to find good coverage for it. I've looked into it myself, seeing as I've spent even way more than that on my car. If you get regular comp and collision for it, they'll only insure it for the market value of the car plus usually up to $5k of extras. You need to read the fine print on the extras though. I used to have citizens and they'd cover $5k, but they excluded after market stereos and electronics, lowering springs or anything that modified the cars suspension, modifications to the engine with the purpose of increasing the HP.... basically everything that anyone would spend $5k or more on.
Since it's not an old car you can't get collectors car insurance on it either, even if it's not your daily driver and it sees limited miles. If you want more than the $5k of extras coverage, basically you can get the car appraised and show them all your receipts, and then assign a value to the car and specify a coverage amount you want for the car that isn't affected by depreciation... and then they'll give you a quote for how much it will cost you. Usually 3-4 times regular coverage or even higher. Basically they really don't want to cover custom cars, even if it's low risk because you hardly ever drive it, so basically you're screwed.

Customizations are added by endorsement, for example:
ISO PP 03 18 01 05 "Customizing Equipment Coverage"
What this does is:
1. Removes the exclusion regarding customizing equipment.
2. Coverage will be on a "stated value" basis, but recoverage is limited to the lesser of ACV (acutal cash value) or the stated value.
3. Deductible stated in the endorsement applies to both collision and other than collision losses.
From what I have seen Geico, Progressive and several other carriers write coverage on their own propriatry forms. Go into a local agent and speak with them about the above referenced ISO Endorsement and see what they can do for you.

Great news.
NATIONWIDE will provide full coverage. They have allotments for custom body work (I put $9000), for stereo/electronics ($4000), and dvd/tv/gps ($1000). Now, with 2 tickets and also insuring a 2005 Audi S4...its $1000/6mo. (Not too bad, about $550 for Audi, $450 for GA)
ALLSTATE has also offered to cover me, with an appraised value of $19,000 in total. I just have to provide documentation of the value of the modifications, and current replacement costs as of the insurance date. Standard depreciation will be applied during an incident. Also, anything that can be recovered from the car is deducted. (i.e. if my leather seats are still in tact, $1000 comes off) -- It's only $700/6mo for both my cars.
Not a bad deal, if you have less than $5,000 it looks like GEIGO and PROGRESSIVE will work great. If you have less than $4,000 eSurance will work.
I reccomend people getting the coverage, if you are working on your car!
Once I post the pictures of the car (in progress) I hope people wont bitch about me needing to rethink my spending =) Plus, I do have a nice car...this is my custom car.

Not too bad of prices VT. Hell, I'm paying 160 for full coverage alone due to the wife's driving habits... ;crap
I have a thought on your car though. Redo EVERYTHING in crimson red and put a big white A on it... lol lol

Grundy Worldwide look them up. My GA is insured as a special interest show vehicle. I can drive it as much as I want, when I want. The only rule is that it has to be parked in a locked garage at night. I have it insured for $10,000 and I pay $256/yr for full coverage with some good benifits :) 100/300/100 with a $250 deductable.
