i bought new gm factory fog lights because 2 sets of my old ones went like my 1998 fogs ,the lense turned in to fine fine spyder like cracking.

not much use put on the 2nd set of fogs for my 2000 ,but they had still formed the cracking look. this is the third set of factory fogs for my 2000 this time i put in silverstar 880. looks alot better whiter light, just hope the lense of the lights don't crack again this third time. you have to look close to see the cracking. less use in now days.

might look into these 893 silverstars( same white but bit brighter 37.5W sounds good ) might be special order up here ??? . adventually i would like to install my blazertec 3200's . but they require special wiring i can not do myself and hope they can still use factory switch ??? and cutting of the brackets i bough spare brackets . not too excited about the blue tinted glass they come with .

BUT alot more powerfull then present , not as had as hid to do and no yellow just blue. too bad the 855-50watts are i guess a yellow hue

Fog lights are supposed to have a slightly yellowish color to the bulb so that the light wont glare off the water particles (fog) in the air.

The whiter the light the more reflection you are going to get and the less useful they will be.

I've been thinking about upgrading my fogs as well.
However I was thinking about the above comment, regarding the color of them.
That's what has me on hold.

Maybe you could go with a low temperature HID kit. Though the kit needs a little tweaking to make it last longterm.

I have a 3000k kit for my fogs only problem the plastic one mine warped are having them in. The hids I got off ebay for $50 plus shipping they work great but attract r!cers.

I have the Oznium kit, but since there's no plug to keep the contacts sealed up, they're all corroded. Now they'll work but only for about 30 seconds when it pops the fuse.

More like 500 for the heads and fogs ;crap

Now I'm stuck with glaring heads and non-functional fogs. Lesson learned.

so any thoughts on the el cheapo ebay hid's for in the fogs? or the 885 "cheating" upgrade?

I have a set of the Hella fogs from PFYC sitting in my garage. They are definitely great quality, and come with a pre-assembled wiring harness. One of these days I should get around to installing them

I have the Silverstar 880s in my fogs, and my cousin mounted GA fogs on his Dakota and bought the $20 Super White bulbs from Autozone and his are alot brighter than the Silverstars

well iv been thinking about it, I think this thread was a continuation from my yellow fog thread on GAOC?

seems a few have said they've run 885s in a lot of GM vehicles and never had a problem, but some say its melted their housing, do you think its worth the risk cardude?

I would definately love a brighter fog, I want to change my headlights with SS's though im not sure if I want the white look in the fogs, the regular stock amber might be what im looking for as I would like some real yellow fogs, going to still look for the yellows in 885s.

The 880 replacement silverstar bulbs at canadian tire were like 25bux a piece so I was like umm yea I think ill buy those online lol.

let us know if you have any issues cardude and if you could get a pic at night with your fogs that would be coolio

Stock wattage is what? 27.5 watts or 35?
I have seen 880s in 50w and in 100w. now 100w i think will def melt some housings.

And I agree, I would go with yellow fogs over the whiter ones.

put it this way, if it does melt the housing and the fogs stop working; its not exactly a huge loss. it was $12, and is money way better spent i think than the 40 i spent on a pair of silverstars for in my fogs.

I picked up a pair of fogs w/ brackets for 8 bux at a junkyard... so having to replace them every couple months is no big deal.
Not to mention it's super easy ;D

Just a note to the OP but could you start being a little more descriptive with all your thread titles? That's the 2nd I had to change for you this week. Thanks.

has anyone notice a very fine spider web like cracking in there factory fog lenses????.TAKE A LOOK FOLKS not sure if this happens after time or could be on them when new . you have to look close to see but it is usuall quite bad. i think i have had this cracking when new and used. this time though my new factory fog/lenses are perfect .

but i wounder if they too will turn spider on me or if i change to 893st -37.5w versus 880st-27w if that will cause them to spider.

if i foresure knew it was just the freak chance bad production quality of the lenses not the bulbs that cause this i would love to upgrade to 893st. atleast til some year i get my blazertec 3200's installed
