View Full Version : Ignition problem
I've been having a problem with my 99 grand am SE where promptly after cranking, my engine starts for about a second and shuts off instantly. does anybody have an idea as to what the problem might be?

If you "security" light is on passlock would be my first guess. 10 minutes with the key in the on/run position should reset it. Try that and get back to us.
no the security light isn't on. Quick question. Does anybody know off the top of their head if the coil packs ground is thru the metal base they're attached to that connects them to the engine.

check your cam/crank sensor, your car will start but if the pcm dose not see rpm, it will kill it.
wouldn't that set my SES light on?
Has anybody else had this problem? I discovered my car has a bypass ignition system where the ignition module controls timing when cranking, and then the computer takes over. I don't know if I should look at the module, computer, or the connection. I was hoping somebody else has had this problem.
Im starting to think that it's an IAC problem. Does that sound about right to anybody?
