looks cool but also looks like its going to be a major pain to keep clean. Also hope you used 1200* or higher paint, I sprayed my exhaust mani's silver and they ended up turning up bronze colored and that was with 600* engine paint.

CantBeatIt96

i used flame proof paint ment for headers and exhaust.

and keeping clean will be a breeze, i have all oil run clear on it. its goin to run off like the rainX

Because it was there...

Looks really good man. It's clean as fock.

You should have painted it orange though. Or green and yellow.

CantBeatIt96
10-14-2008, 08:13 AM
green and yellow, im a NEW HOLLAND man not a John Deere man, lol. but i painted it becuz exactly like they said becuz i could it was there so i did, looks better then it did before. you tell me if some one popped their hood and you saw a reegualr motor with oil all over it, then another popped theirs and it was all painted and pretty, you would rather look at the one all painted.

i did red black and silver cuz, once i paint the car its goin to be Black red and white so it will go with the car and also arent most GM crate motors red and sivler with a little black. im not sure tho.

but thanks guys, i worked hard as **** with this motor, today im painting the tranny too. its goin to be black.

its got a gator belt, mobile one oil, ACDelco oil filter, Stage 1 Exedy clutch. and i cant rember what else right now, i kind just got up. i was workin to late on the car last night.

but if it has the right clear coat protectant on it, all he would need to do is spray it down.

CantBeatIt96
10-14-2008, 04:53 PM
right its got a clear coat on it that is oil resistant, alowing me to just spray it and it should just run off maybe a little more forceful water, not like just run water on it but a good spray should take off all the oil.

Besides the header paint, I hope you used the high heat ceramic engine paint on the block and the rest of the parts. I don't think I would've painted that idler pulley red either. The belt is going to wear the paint off the outside and you'll have red dust everywhere. Other than that, looks really good.

CantBeatIt96
10-15-2008, 08:53 PM
well im likin this, you guy are liking what ive done. thanks. the belt tightener wont rust if the car is moving and the belt is rubbing the pully it wont rust. no water is goin to build up on something that is goin to be moving all the time. and if its aluminum its not goin to rust, if its not aluminum its stainless my old motor is sitting outside and that puly isnt even rusted. but the motor as i said before it all painted with high heat paint. its done right trust me im not goin to fock this motor up.

AaronGTR
10-16-2008, 04:22 PM

Oh yeah. When I did my engine, I did the whole block with dupont high temp ceramic engine primer and paint. However the oil pan, cylinder heads, alternator case, and a few other parts all I did was wire brush them and clean them and then spray 'em with high temp clear so they wouldn't oxidize and stay shiny. :)

i got hte motor in today, IN not running yet, lol, me and pontiacGT201 got it in but i need to hook up all the wires and and all. does anyone know how to find a wire harness spec. like where would be the best to go to get them.

CantBeatIt96

well the motor is almost completely installed, cant wait, probably in like a week at the most it should be done, ill have all my new tires by tomarrow, got YOKOHAMA parada Spec-2 all season high performance tires, all i need to do now for the motor is put the power stearing back together, put all the fluids in and hook up the linkage. then all should be good beside the exhaust system and tires.

welll the motor is in and runs, having trouble with the battery tho. replaced the alternater, and the battery but the car wont stay charged, but if the alternater is workin then the car should still stay running, since the battery is for starting the car and thats about it. the alternator sends the current through the car. not just the battery and the battery should stay charged if the alternater was workin. so i dont know if any of ya know then id be glad to listen.

clean engine, dirty car.

CantBeatIt96
11-04-2008, 05:33 PM
i know the car is extremely dirty, its getting body work done to it too. lol. lots off work at one time.

the intake is pvc, and the wrap is heat shield. reflexs heat from the the intake. works extremely well. trust me, the pipe on the out side is hot but if you take it off and feel the inside its cold, so it works very well. once i get money then im goin to relocate the battery and make the pipe come straight from the TB to the fender, there will only be 2 bend in the whole thing. but im on a tight budget, i just replace the whole motor so aluminum pipe is not in the budget at the moment. so yes its a true custom CAI.

The car is running great, better then ever, cant wait till i get it up for inspection so i can legally drive it. lol.

CantBeatIt96

11-04-2008, 06:28 PM
lmao, good one. cant wait till its all done and painted, ill have to get a picture of what im planing on doin, ill describe it now but will get a pick of it later.

im goin with Black Pearl, Red Pearl, and White Pearl. A 1/4 inch "pinstipe" of Red Pearl that goes all the way back straight from the top of the door handles to the rear tail lights, and around the trunk, then goin towards the front it will slope down with the cars front end and then once its past the fender it will start sloping down more giving it a nice slope in the front, the top will be all Black Pearl, then everything under the Red line will be White Pearl.
Black Pearl being black w/blue flake,
White Pearl being white w/blue flake,
Red Pearl being red w/blue flake.

CantBeatIt96
11-04-2008, 06:31 PM
actually it wont be to restrictive, i just added one extra bend in it from the old WAI, but its only temperary till i can get aluminum pipe. and then it will be 3 bends counting the bend goin into the TB.

im not painting it myself, thats goin to be done by a professional, i want it done right, and i figured pearl was goin to be hard to do myself. but what yall think of how it will look painted like that. i was goin to go with red, black, and silver, but i think silver aftermarket paint is gay, no offence to anyone who has silver cars, it looks good on other cars but i dont think it will look good with this paint work that i want to do. so thats why i picked white.

im not shaking, the camera is just older and and it blurs pics easy becuz when you click the button it makes it move so that blur, pissing my off at the same time. but on the camera they looked clear, so i dont know. but iatleast you can kinda tell what it looks like. lol.

do you guys have any ideas for the car, like something that would be nice to do.

heres my plans for it.
body kit-maybe
lower-about 1"-1.5"
red racing seats
red carpet
diamond plated floormats
shave door handles
dual exhaust
"S series" hood scoop-like on the camaro SS's
change the spoiler-will still be the same general style just one that i didnt extend 4"s and then a buddy close the trunk by pushing on the center of the spoiler.
new tail lights-black altezza-then convert them to LEDs
HID kit
paint
window tint

theres probabl more but i cant think of anymore of the top of my head, so what else looks wise should i do, or not do.
thanks for your help guys and for the postive posts about it.

CantBeatIt96

ya im gettin the stick on kind but im goin to mold it all on. then cut a hole in the hood that wayit actually works the put a grill in the scoop and then put a foam pad behind it that way it soaks up the water that comes in.

well right now im having problems with the trany, the funny part is it worked fine the night before then i went out in the morning and started it and it made a terrible grinding rattling sound. im thinking my fly wheel came loose, im hoping it just that, the only thing is i tightened them all down and they have locktight on them. so i dont understand why it would.

Don't put foam behind the scoops its just going to hold the heat in the engine bay and look dumb. Your going to get water on the engine whether you have the scoops or not so don't worry about it.

CantBeatIt96
11-21-2008, 03:17 PM
alright then i wont put the foam, but the S scoop wont let heat out anyways, cuz its facing the front so the air will be comin in, but i guess if i stop then it would come out, but im not goin to put it in anyways. thanks.

stillriza
11-21-2008, 04:41 PM
You forget that there is basically a big hole under your engine bay. If air is forced in from the scoop, then it will be forced out from from under the front of the car... if it didnt work that way, then your hood would fly open when you drive. Make sense?

CantBeatIt96
11-22-2008, 12:27 PM

nothing a simple power wash can't clean. just make it part of your cleaning ritual. wash, polish, wax exterior. then add power wash engine bay. regardless of the scoop or not, your still gona get some grime on the engine bay. still, you have done quite a uniqe job with your GA. looks dope!

Black Knight
11-23-2008, 07:13 PM
You shoulda painted the engine bay black before putting the motor in. Rattle can would have done the job there. Pearl isnt difficult to spray, you cant lay it on thick, it has to be light coats so the pearl doesnt glob or create light spots and dark spots with the flake. Pick a very intense white as a basecoat. White pearl actually has a cream look to it. And do not pick a tri-coat for the white, thats a PITA. Looks good otherwise. Im interested to see this scoop idea, and you need the 96 GT bumper, than would look alot better, otherwise I like the overall look of the car.

In your opinion. Let the man do what he wants. If he's doing shows and stuff they are a nice attention getter.

I may have a little do-dad that you might like for the strobes..I don't have the info on it with me, but I can get it when I head home..basically it's a controller to setup different patterns.

hey i found out what was wrong with the car now, the fly wheel bolts where loose unsure on how they became loose, they were torxed to the right amount and had blue lock tight on them but some how they came loose. so just tighten them down and were good to go. plus i rebuilt the understrut to make it a real strut bar and im getting polyurithane sway bar mounts. goin to be bad ass once im done, control is goin to be awsome.

well got the car running, actually running very nicely, cars running beautiful. the fly wheel bots came loose unsure why, they were tightened correctly, like the right amount of tork and they had locktight on them. but now i have brand new bolts and lock tight all over them, this time there on for good. lol. well untill i get the light weight flywheel.

my plans are simple. im goin to take the old motor apart, take the heads apart completely rebuild it with all performace parts(secret cam swap, etc) then port and polish, rebuild the headers, and the intake manifold.(unless i get the SC first). then im gettin a light weight flywheel. then new injectors. (get the whole thing powder coated) then put the things on and play away.

so what you guys think. sound like a good idea.

yeah does sound like a good idea. nothin that could screw anything up or put more wear on a car that doesnt need more wear (no clue what you have as far as miles is concerned...).
simple is always a good thing...

i know, its not completed yet just thought id show the progress. im fillin every line, and filling every dent. shaving the rear door handles. would shave the front too. but i cant drag race if i do, at least on the track. that and i dont feel like hookin up door poppers at the moment.

i also plan to move the gas line to the top of the trunk, so i can shave the gas door too.

also shaving the side markers.

also doin a new spoiler tomarrow, either a grand prixs spoiler or a mustang spoiler, depends on what i think looks better. im gettin both so i have the choice.

Well its hard to paint when you are working on the body. Thats why its diferent colors. There still things that need filled in. We are both looking at having our cars falt black before show season.
