Has anyone else been following LeBron James out of Ohio? He's supposed to be the #1 draft pick this summer. Kid just turned 18 and his "mother" gave him a H2 with 3 TV screens in it. He's got some awesome talent, but how is it possible that this isn't gonna screw him up? I know of a few, like Kobe, who have done it successfully, but not to this extreme. He's looking at like $50 million contracts????? Any opinions?

yea i actually have talked with him. his best freind is our HS star point guard who i used to play basketball with. lebron is pretty cool and he is smarter than a lot of people give him credit for. he is a good kid and is trying to live like any guy his age would. The way i c it, as i have heard him say to a bunch of guys, he can always go back to college if he wants or needs to. the money wont always b there. i have played against him and he is the real deal. by far the best HS star i have ever seen. He is just livin a dream that many guys have always dreamed about.

In my opinion,he deserves the H2...so many ppl make money off of him, why not get a teeny tiny piece of what he makes for everyone else? Just because he's in high school doesn't mean he should be dumb...make the money while you can! :D
Anyways, kobe and KG were considered the best out of high school players in the NBA, and even they weren't as good as Lebron James in High School...He has so much media frenzy around him cuz he is just that good...

I agree, they said his school alone is gonna make at least 1million off of him this year. Then there's knock off jerseys and stuff that people are selling. It's gotta be wild for him, someone said he needs a body guard now.

I think he is just doing what anybody his age would do. You can easily go to college while in the pros. I mean how many people could resist a carrot like that dangling in front of them. He is a great athlete and seems very smart. I know if I were in his shoes I would be in the NBA in a heartbeat. But alas I am just a poor no ballin' skills cracker so no NBA for me

I hope that's not true about Adidas, cuz then I think his team would have to forfeit any of the games they won with him on the team.

Quick question for you Shawn, are you talking about Eddie Jackson, Lebron's wannabe step-father? His real father is not around, either dead or in jail I don't remember which.

I think biological father, step-father, and mother have all been in jail at one time or another.

Well from what I have heard, his mother took out a loan to get him that H2 in anticipation of his upcoming contract. If that is the truth, how the heck can they be living in the projects? If they even are....
I mean you're going to be granted much more for a house than you ever will for a car. Because loan companies see the necesity of a house much before that of a 50k vehicle....
Seems shady to me. If Adidas did buy him that truck, Adidas needs to be severly fined, and I can't imagine much could be said for his upcoming career. It wouldn't look very smart to me.

How did McGahee's mom get a loan for $20,000 to put up for the $2.5 million insurance policy?? Easy, she told the bank that he is going to be a star and will nab millions of dollars in a contract for football as long as he isn't injured. And if he is injured, then he still might get some contract and if not then he will get $2.5 million from the policy. That simple. Their future earnings are their colladeral. That is how they can get the loans.

Lebron is definetly the talk of Ohio, he's on the local sports news almost every night!! I dont know what its like nationally but the coverage must be allover! As far as the H2, if you were a bank would you wanna do business with someone that doesnt have a lot of money, but will have millions very very soon!!!!!!!!! I know i would! That is most likely how is mom could afford a Hummer.

VTECH is correct. In LeBron's case, all that H2 dealership/financing place knows is that LeBron is gonna be jacked with millions in LESS THAN A YEAR. And that is about 99% guaranteed. So, the dealership pulls a few strings. Hell, the owner might even buy it and ask him to pay him back and do commercials for him when he gets his contract. In essence, the dealer gets a star NBA player associated with his dealership.
As for Mcgahee, his family is not your typical ghetto family. He comes from a middle-america home. And according to the insurance policy, its win-win. If he gets a big contract they get their money, if he doesn't play, part of that 2.5million is used to repay the principal. McGahee isn't the first to do this. Last year McKinnie, Rumph, Buchanon and Ed Reed all did the same thing. All were first round picks. Small price to pay for your career.
