well, this past Friday, while waiting to take a left hand turn so i can turn around (due to the accident couple car lengths away blocking the road), my car was rear-ended by a Explorer...
today the insurance guy came and said that my car will most likely be considered a total...
time to put the stocks back on...and figure out what to do with my aftermarkets.
here's some pics...

sadly, both tail lights were damaged (driver's side clips broke off, passenger's side the cover is off the base) and the spoiler was damaged (came off base)
dunno what i want to get...might get something cheap cause i dont want to have a monthly car bill again (seeing i owe way too much for school now)

sucks man, same thing happened to me a few weeks ago, or maybe a month now. Hopefully you get a good penny on them totalling it out, i did.
Atleast you have the oppertunity to part some of it out. Mine was my first major accident and I never saw the car again after the accident.

dont you have a right to have access to your car after an accident though? i mean it IS your car after all...

i took everything personal out of the car on the scene. They asked if i had anything else in the car and i said no. I guess i could have said yes to get access again, but i doubt they would let me pull the hood\spoiler\lights once it was in their lot and they planned to total it out

I believe once the check is cut out to you and it is totalled..it becomes the insurance companies property..so get what you can before they pay you for it.

Damn man. That sh1t sucks. Glad your alright though. Snatch off all the parts you can and PO or get another GA and rebuild.

You should be allowed to return the car to stock, unless your have supplemental insurance which covers the aftermarket parts. In that case, removing them and not telling the insurance company would be fraud.

the guy who checked out the car told me himself to put all the stocks on cause i'll end up getting more outta it in the end...i got until Friday to swap everything i can swap out...
and the guy who hit me's insurance provided me with a vehicle...and when i went to go get it, since they only had 3x trucks, i was able to get one (a Nissan Frontier crew cab) for the same price it would be for what the insurance will provide...free upgrade...
i can go back tomorrow and trade it out for a car but i think i'll keep the truck
but man, i suck at reverse parking the truck lol...what once was easy as pie with the Grand Am or my ex's Accord is now a chore just to get it right.
and the only other sucky part is that i dont have the stock foglights no more...so the Hella Angel eyes are staying...:(

one of the items the way they say they'll figure out how much the car is worth is to check out 5-6x dealerships and see similar grand ams with about the same mileage and see how much those go for and base the price on that...
from the looks of it, looks like it'll be better than using the Kelly blue book price.

post back what you get for your GA. if u just take the fogs, u think they would make a stink that you don't put back the stockers? or how about rims for example.
best of luck

dunno what im gonna get now...in the end, i got $4200 out of it. checked craigslist and my make and model is around the same price range...damn, though i'd at least get 5k...

wow, seriously?
I just got 13500 for a 2004 2d SC/T. i was expecting around 9k. The price should be based off of dealer prices anyways, not craigs list. are they really going for 4200 from dealer sin your area?

just about...looked around 3-4 different dealers (seen a few from $4000-$6000).
but i do have a 2001 and it is a SE...yours is higher due to the fact that its a newer model, a GT (SC/T), and doesn't have a damaged front bumper and dings to add.
just saw a few stock GT, 2004-2005ish year going for $7000-$10000)...stock GT, 2001-2002ish went for $6000-$8000...

so i got me a new "used" car now...it's a 2006 Ford Fusion S
it's a 2.3L 160hp sedan...White (yeah i like white cars), has 20-in Zenik chrome rims, a Alpine DVD Player roof system.
i'm pretty much gonna keep it stock other than add my aftermarket Alpine deck
i like it and was looking into possibly trading in the GA for a Fusion anyways.
nice. i like the fusions and heard some good things about them. i hope you enjoy it.

Still running right? Does it dog-leg it now or still track true out of curiousity?
