Armed with many you-tube vidoes and a sunny day I succesfully tinted all my glass with %20.
I decided to do it myself so i could learn how to do another unique thing. I started with the back window with the wal-mart special tint, it sucked; also a hair dryer takes forever to work out fingers... I then ran up to autozone and got some Gila 20%. It is some of the greatest stuff ever, it dose not have an adhesive backing, so it is much easier to work with, it also reacted alot better to heat. I would reccomend it to anyone wanting to do their own tinting... it also looks deep black like 5% when more then 5' away.
I of course have a few ugoh areas, but it look pretty good... I had to 2 peice the back window, the tint was only 6in short of covering the entire window.27031

How are you going to address the dot matrix on the rear window?
How are you going to address the dot matrix on the rear window?
Only way to really take care of that and make it look good is covering it with vinyl.

Some tint shops do it, go to a graphics shop and get the material, or buy it from CustomGrandAm.com

For the dot-matrix I've heard a blue elmer's glue stick on black vinyl works great.
I had it "proffessionaly" done... but the tint on my cobalt is peeling around the bottom edge of the dot-matrix rear glass. The HUGE dot-matrix on top that was covered in vinyl is fine.

You need the tint-on spray which is 25% baby shampoo and water, a firm rubber squegee, a very sharp blade and a card of some sort. I bought the kit at wal-mart when i started, but i would not suggest it to anyone; the Gila one would probobly be better.

all togeather i spent about $40.
I bought 3 rolls of 24'X6.5Ft tint @ 10$ a roll and 10$ tint-kit.
I would suggest the pre-cut though, it would seem very easy.

Approx. savings for doing it yourself would seem about $50-$75.
