View Full Version : Thinking of Retiring the GA

As the title states, I'm thinking of parting with the GA soon. Rust is coming over the rear quarter panel, LIM is leaking a tiny bit, over 130k, etc etc. I'd like to get rid of it before any serious problems occur and I'm looking for practical ideas for the next car.

I'm really thinking about an '05 G6 4 cylinder. Looking to spend ~$10k or less if I find a nice deal.

This would also mean a part out of my car probably over the winter.

sorry to hear about giving up the GA...i wanted to keep the GA too but they wouldn't fix it and it would cost me too much to fix it too.

love white GA...actually, white cars look sweet, hence my new car

Get another GA lol

Seriously tho. Keep an eye out for one that already has some work on it or something. I loved having my Mazda for about 6 months, then I just really wanted to get back into a GA.

I don't think I have what it takes to be apart of the multi-GA crew lol

Also have Eibach springs and I'd need stockers in return for those also.

Is it mechanically fine still? With 130k you won't get much on a trade anyway why not drive it another year or until it starts falling apart?

Or keep the GA as a daily and get something fun to drive

The way I look at it is I want to get rid of it before the LIM fails again, before the rust eats the quarter panel, etc. I'd like to get the most I can out of it through selling, even if it's $2k, rather than drive it to the ground and get nothing.

Is it surface rust?

Bryan

No, it started on the underside of the quarter panel and it's now coming over the side..so the underside is basically completely rusted out.

Sorry, but the GA would be a good beater. Why spend more money to get a beater when you have the GA? Doesn't make any sense to me. It's borderline GTLUVA logic.

Edit: Thought you were the original poster. I need to learn how to read.

Do it. I know I want to.

Bryan

For the car as a whole I guess I'd have to take offers. If I'm going to make significantly less through an offer than I would parting out, I'm gonna part out

Grandamgtblk99

I'd be interested in it all stock, I don't need all the aftermarket parts.

don't get an '05 G6, they had a POS transmission IMO... 4speed, IIRC.

Look into a used Grand Prix... they are bulletproof and a dime a dozen.

If your looking for a 4 cylinder just get a Honda.

I'm actually swinging towards those now from the reviews I've been reading. I've found a bunch of them with around 30k miles for $9k, many still with warranties so yeah I'm definitely leaning towards a GP now.
