question about hvac knobs

ive been wanting to get clear hvac knobs for some time now. so the other day i took one of them off and DAMN that rubber is hard to get off. does anyone know w way to make the rubber come off easier? i think i read somewhere that cavalier or sunfire knobs might be better. would i be better off getting those instead?

I hear you can put them in boiling water to get them off too. ALthough I never tried that method.

Heat gun and a pair of plyers to get that outer coating off. It's rather easy and fun!

There is a guy on ebay that sells them and usually only includes 2 in his auction. i sent him a message to make one for 3 and he did it no problem. i would suggest trying to do the same. he didn't charge me that much either.

gmpartsdirect.com has them, I think I paid somewhere in the $20-30 range for 3 shipped..but I could be wrong..I can check through my email and "try" to dig up the price and part number..hang on..I'll look now actually..

edit:

9360784 heater and a/c knob for the blower switch, or the a/c control mode.
9378178 heater and a/c knob for the temperature.

That's what was in the email.


I left the rubber on mine, however, if you do clear them it's black plastic underneath, but from what I 'hear' under the light at night it appears white[ish]..
