I have a feeling your average 100k+ sports car buying isn't checking craigslist for his automobile of choice...

very true...
I like the interior. I like everything about it.... maybe except the Navi... it looks cheap and is really old. I like the fact it looks simple. No chrome BS all over the place.

Whatever.
Looks ok in red, but not with the blue calipers! They should have changed the caliper color on that car. But I think it looks better in the blue and the gray colors.

Cars selling for half that price don't have the cheap plastic knobs on the radio,hvac,etc..
GM lowballed on the interior, the price is only for what's under the hood.

If im going to pay that kind of money for a sport car I want a computer navi system like the new 5 series has. One touch scroll options etc.....

Like I said, whatever. What do you think the radio knobs are made of on a lexus or BMW? They aren't focking platinum! They are plastic, and they just have maybe a different shape, texture, finish or whatever based on what the companies stylists came up with. Sorry, but style is subjective. Maybe some people don't mind the GM interior. You can't say it's cheap just because it's made of plastic. That's retarded. And you have to remember the environment they are in too. How do you know those more expensive finishes the other companies use are going to hold up over time? Maybe GM uses the knobs they do so they won't have fancy fake aluminum knobs that will look old in 5 years after being exposed to water, skin oil, and UV light.

Sometimes I can't believe what idiots you guys can be. You are comparing two totally different cars. The M5 would be the closest in comparison and it's NOT a sports car. It's a sport sedan. It's designed with a different purpose. It starts out over $85k and you are paying for luxury, not speed. Sure it comes with all those electronic gismos you want... it also weighs over 2 tons and gets 11mpg in city driving and only 17 on the highway. The ZR1 is designed for speed, not luxury. It weighs 700lbs less and is a two seater. It doesn't have room in the dash for stupid navigation displays. If you have that much money anyway you can afford to buy a garmin.

Aaron, did you just sit there and say "huh, I wonder what kind of sh!t I can pull out of my ass on this one" then dig around a bit and pull out this nugget and figure "hey..somebody might buy this turd" and just slop it up on the computer screen for us?
When you buy a lexus, bmw, etc..the interior looks NICE. Hell, my first car, a 93 Town and Country had a nicer interior in it when I started driving in 2002..car was 10 years old, the plastic pieces were covered in a fake wood looking cover..and after all that time of being exposed to the elements in Indiana..it still looked like it just came off the lot..and my parents never had the thing cleaned or detailed properly.
If a car that old can look that good after 10 years with a much much lower sticker price than this vehicle, I'm sure the geniuses with Chevy could have turned out a slicker looking interior that would hold up to the test of time.
I wasn't bashing that they used plastic, I was bashing that it looked plastic..and not just that..they could have made it more appealing than they did..even without immitation wood/metal etc covers on everything..but they didn't. The interior was COMPLETELY ignored. As I said, the price is for under the hood, the rest of the car was something they just had to throw in..they didn't want to, obviously..but damnit, those stupid consumers want a seat, and a steering wheel..and that goddamn stereo. :amraam:

Working in the OEM navigation industry, I think GM has a lot to learn about design; so I do agree with both sides. GM should update parts of the interior. It does look a lot like the interior from the '97 Vettes. But I don’t see how anyone in the market for the ZR-1 looking for a high end Navigation or 12V computer.
I do think that they should add some sort of visual functions on the Navi system.=> IE: Gyro to display G-Force (G's), performance numbers, etc. anything else that would entice and old man with a lot of money to buy it. I think its stupid stuff like that, that makes ppl buy cars. It might be stupid, but it would sell. They do have something similar in the works, but it is really elementary (still needs design updates). Here's the link http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2008/08/gm_performance_display.html

Who's digging nuggets out of their ass now? I think you just don't like the design of the dash or the finish materials so you have to find something to bitch about. The seats are supportive and comfortable... nothing wrong with the steering wheel... the stereo actually sounds great. Have you ever listened to it? Just because it doesn't have a bunch of techno-garbage built into it doesn't make it a bad stereo. Heck even the guy from Top Gear liked the 'vettes interior. He said compared to a Ferrari the stereo was great, the interior actually had room and was comfortable, and the air actually blew ice cold. And how much do people pay for Ferrari's?
Again people... it's a sports car, not a luxury car. And the quality of the amenities that it does have are actually very good for a sports car, and especially for the price compared to other sports cars. Hand's down the 'vette is the best value for the money out there.

WHERE in my post, find it for me, did I point out that I wanted "techno-garbage"? I mentioned appearance, that's it. Jesus Christ.
There are fleet cars out there that look better on the inside, and are further from luxury cars than a sports car is. It isn't too much to ask that it look decent for that price tag. Besides, vettes were created to be a fast car that the common man can afford. This car doesn't fit into that category..therefore I don't think a nice interior is too much to ask for for those that are dropping the dime on this car.
