Lighter

I was wondering if anyone knows how I can make my Cig lighter on when I turn on the car and off when I shut the car off.

As you all know it is always on.

Out of curiosity what is your reasoning behind this? all you have to do is splice the power wire to the cig lighter (found behind the plastic dash console piece) and put a witch in there. that is what i would do atleast.

I keep forgetting to shut off the acc items and they stay on. I am going to hard wire my radar, however I want to leave other things plugged in and have them go off when I shut off the car.

I leave my cell phone and V-1 radar detector on all the time...no problems yet:)...so y not just leave it alone:clap:

There's two wires on the back of the ligher (orange & black I think). Just cut the orange wire (12v +) and splice a piece in from the cig lighter upto the 12v+ switched wire on the back of the stereo and splice it together. This will change your lighter from being always on, to being on only when the key is in the on/accessories posistion. I don't remember off hand the color of the wire on the head unit that is the switched lead. I'm sure someone else here has that wire color/pinout.
