So I came across a 3400 engine with 93,000 km's on it out of a 2003 Impala for only 300 dollars canadian. I am going to test it out on the 21st before he pulls it. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to look for other then compression? Also 2003 that is the year the LIM was upgraded aswel am i correct?

2003.5 is when the LIM was 'tweaked'...mine still failed in my 05.3

Arent the 3400 in the impala's tuned to make a lil more hp... something like 185 or so..correct me if I am wrong.

Base 3.4L Engine in the Impala = 180HP @ 5,200

I duno.. i guess it would be a good idea to replace it..save you trouble in the future ..but if it isn't leaking fluid and looks good, then why bother with the extra expense/trouble. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. lol
