View Full Version : help purging Power steering pump?

I replaced my PS pump yesterday.....all day. Somewhat easy out and in with misc. o-ring issues. It is in, and not leaking, steering feels assisted, but I have the "whine" like I have air in the lines. I have cycled the steering from side to side to purge, but still have the whine. LOUD Whine, like all Fords. Any tricks out there to kill the noise?

give it some time, it does it for a bit till all the airs completly out.

When I did mine I just ran it for a couple minutes several times and added fluid every time and all the whining went away after about 3-4 times doing that. Might take a full day to get absolutely all the tiny air bubbles out of the system and top the fluid off again, but shouldn't take longer than that.

Too busy to reply, and too much of a spazz to let the air work its way out. Turned out to be a bad P/S pump and me being impatient.
