whats the best way to take off. leave in drive or start in 1st 2nd 3rd????????? help

Just leave it in D and let the computer do the rest.

Well, its has been said here and there that people feel "firmer" shifts when the selector is in "3" rather than in "D"... I suppose we'll have to hook up an autotap and see what the difference is between the two as far as the time required to shift goes.

when left in "D" the shift from 2nd to 3rd occurs at something like 5500 rpms. When left in "3"rd the shift drags out to 5800-5900. This is what was talked about. Whether it makes that much difference or not has yet to be seen. I would think winding it out a bit more would be better, but I don't know. Personally the best way to race 'em is to rev to about 3-4K and drop the clutch and go from there...

with my stock torque converter i launch my car around 1500 rpm and my shifter is in 3rd....and i did notice a difference between 3rd and "D"....i dunno

I found "3" and a 1500 rpm drop works for me. I also have an ASE Chip with the SC, so my shifts at WOT hit 6200 rpm.:)
