Hey guys ive got a 99 GA 3.4. i had some problems with coolant coming out of the overflow hose. i popped the hood and looked everything over, the only thing i could find was that while revving up the engine the lower radiator hose collapses almost completely. Whats causing it and what do i need to fix?

The rad hose is old/worn down and needs to be replaced. I don't know why they collapse when they get weak, but they do.

PS - The hose can look good, but do a squish test, when the system isn't under pressure, the hose should be firm, not super soft.

There is a slight possibility that your cooling system is creating a vacuum, but if it were you'd more than likely be losing coolant. When I worked in a radiator repair shop, I saw this once. It was always the rad hose in need of replacing. If it the original hose, or if you've never replaced it, it has the possibility of being 10 years old, it's time to change it.

From the sound of it, I'd say replace the collapsing hose too.

You're losing coolant from the overflow because it has nowhere else to go, the collapsing hose is seeing to that. I should have said "coolant leak", not "losing coolant". Sorry for the confusion.
