I have my external crank trigger, is it suppose to replace the crankshaft sensor on the back of the block or the one underlaying the crank pulley. I'm a little confused, the one on the back of the block is different, because it is a three wire and longer than the stock 3400 sensor.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to replace the one that's on the side of the engine block (towards the back of the engine bay). It's meant for doing complete 3500 swaps into cars using 3400 computers, because the 3400 crank is different from the 3500. They have a different number of teeth on the reluctor ring so the sensor sends a different signal to the pcm. The 3400 pcm needs a 7x crank signal for that sensor.

Thanks, I couldn't find a straight answer at first.
