I have an slp exhaust and a custom cold air intake, was wondering if gutting my cat would help performance and sound. Is it worth it or not????

I wouldn't suggest it. If you want a performance gain or louder sound just order the High Flow Cat (http://www.pfyc.com/store/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PFYC&Product_Code=GA5003&Product_Count=1&Category_Code=GAEXH) from PFYC.com.
Also, on a side note...you might try using the SEARCH button before posting questions. Most questions have already been answered on here at least once, if not more.

Why not do it, because IT'S ILLEGAL!

I actually removed my cat at one point, but did not gut it. I did notice a difference, mainly because I have a boosted engine, but for an NA car, you wouldn't see much gain. Gutting the cat is just too final for me, I wanted to reserve the option of putting it back on (which I did). With a gutted cat your car will be louder and you will have your SES light up on your dash.
Like Craig said though, it is illegal and you run the risk of getting a HEAFTY fine (hundreds of dollars).

well on a na car you probably won't notice a gain you may even loose some bottom end if you have a free flowing muffler. now if you beef up your induction maby. what i mean is upper/lower intake and heads. you can however get around the ses light with a pig tail that plugs in where your back o2 sensour plugs. they sell them in summit. last time I gutted one was on a 3.0 ranger and with the stock muffler it sounded like:vomit: :vomit:
