Hey just wondering if anyone knows what our gears limit us to. I heard that ASE chip will give us 217 (speed which grand am cant get yet). Otherwise my stock car is 120 at 3k rpm. But what can our gears take us to with the ASE chip. Anyone gone to the track to find out?

Along the same lines... I'm very interested to see what would happen when tweaking out in 3rd around 135... would it shift into 4th? I thought 4th was an overdrive... Anyone with a chip wanna chime in?

SWEET 20 VIEWS AND 1 REPLY (WHICH IS A QUESTION). Thats what I get for asking a performance car question.

In theory, at stock HP levels, you'll hit the aerodynamic wall at around 135. Allegedly, Spoon's SC'd mule car ran to about 155 before loosing it's forward punch. In short, if our cars did not have a speed governor, top speed would be drag-limited rather than gear/rev limited.

Although I saw it a long time ago... I think 4th will bring it up to around 190... but a snowball has a better chance in hell than the GA going that fast...

Holy crap! Less than a 3 hour window between posts?! Sorry, but not everyone can sit in front of a computer all day and wait to answer every question which comes up. Some people do have either school or jobs to worry about, not how fast can you get a GA up to. And umm... where exactly do you plan on going in excess of 120? You plan on trying out for Daytona next month?

Pomona drag strip. Top speed test. :boogie:

And how long is this drag strip? And ok... so now you know how fast your car can go. And what good does that do you? Planning on running from the cops someday? Everyone that wants to get rid of their top speed limiter is dumb. If you have the urge to frequently exceed 120mph you are dumb. Why don't you do us all a favor and just go to the police station and tell them to put you in jail. It'd be alot safer for the rest of us just trying to get between point A and B.

I travel through dallas ftworth and huston every week and It is very hard to just let a camaro, ss impala, firebird, or junky ricer to just pass you. very few cars have any balls past 115 belive me they always ask me what the?? are you shure thats a v 6 ( 133 in third) most people in those big towns cruse the highway between 90 and 110..wtf wtf

I had my car up to 148mph when it was basically stock (just K&N cone) coming out of the mountains in Flagstaff, AZ.

Of course it was well lit and there was absolutely no one around.:D Gotta love desert highways.

On another note, in Texas, those friggin people drive hella fast. I was on my way to AZ through Amarillo, TX and I got passed by a cop on patrol at 95 mph. I was the one doing 95mph too. He didn't even look twice, he was probably doing 110-115mph just patrolling an open desert highway.
