i was out driving my car the other day, i gave it a good shot of gas, and outta no where it started running like a bag of sh**. car would not idle steady( sounded like it's cammed). if i floored it ,it would not respond.

the exhaust smells like rotten eggs. i brought it to muffler man and they tested it for back presurre and diagnosed it as a bad ignition control mod..i swapped it out with a new one and still does the same thing...

i called muffler man and told them that what they said it was didn't fix it...they told me prolly a pcm then? does this sound rite.???

anyone else knoe what it could be

with your brief discription and not being able to see or hear the car i could only speculate as to what it is with out a trouble code picking something up.

i would suggest takeing it to a good machanic not a mufler shop and they can explore the different posibilities.

OEM parts dealer or a dealership itself. Probably not a "dealer only" item so you could probably get one at a local parts shop.

so can i just walk into napa and say "do you guys have a mass airflow sensor for a 2000 grand am gt?"

Yea more than likely. If a place like autozone has them I'm sure Napa will too. It'll probably be more of a "does this store actually have one in stock" as opposed to "do these stores carry it"

I'm just asking because I don't know, but wouldn't a bad MAF throw a code?

not always. a year or so ago mine was bad for about 6 months and it wouldnt put the light on except when it got really bad and then only once in a blue moon.by that time i finally took it to my mechnic. it ended up that it was just dirty and it only needed cleanin
