i'm planning on re-doing my exhaust and i'm wondering, what's the point of a resonator? does it restrict flow and cause too much backpressure? and do brand name cat-backs have them? (i.e. borla....) thanx!

*edit* i'm planning on making the exhaust pipe from the catalytic conv. 2.5" all the way back, and i'm wondering if i need the resonator or not and i don't want my exhaust any louder than it is right now.......

well, here's what i'm thinkin of doing.....i'm gonna get some ported parts for high end, and i'm gonna keep my resonator in along w/ a high flow catalytic conv. for low end torque.

as of now, and being that it's friggin cold and salty out, my plans for my exhaust for now won't come in effect until maybe early spring.....

I wish I still had mine. Take the raspiness and removes some interior noise.

i took the resonator off my car and with the borla it sounds a lot louder than with it on. I felt a little bit of a gain in hp. Sound is great.

My sister removed her's on her '02 and it gave it a deeper sound at idle and a lot more engine noise. It doesn't make it a lot louder but you can notice a difference.

when the resonator is removed, is the horsepower more noticable at the high end and did it sacrifice low end torque?

I recently had my resonator removed and I posted a review here: http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=86535#post86535

Overall, I'm glad I did it.

Just had mine removed Yesterday on 01-27-03
Sounds Better, Has that distinct popping sound after you let off the throttle, love that sound, now need to put on the flowmaster's and 2.25" piping all the way back.....then after taxes get back, hopefully headers But im not gonna put the Nitrous back on her....
