First off what a great forum, happy to be a part of it.

I am hoping to gain some insight as to why my car will not start.

The Problem: The car is a 2001 Grand Am GT with 72K miles. It cranks, turns over, and has fuel pressure. But will not start.

I have since replaced the MAF, Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter. All to no help.

All though when I replaced the fuel pump it ran for like 2 mins then went back to not starting.

I am a college student who cant afford to take my car in the shop, any help would be very appreciated.

I also thaught my computer may be bad? Im all out of ideas and its beyond my knowledge. Thanks for looking and stopping by to help.

is the security light in the left of the gauge cluster flashing when you cranking it over? if so you need to let the car sit for 10 mins. Also is it getting spark?

Im almost positive it is getting spark, we squirted some starting fluid in the intake and it fired up, then dies out.

The security light is not flashing as well.

hmmm sounds like almost an injector or fuel filter issue but like you said you replaced the fuel pump and filter. You can hear the fuel pump when you turn the key right?

Yes of course, and I have checked the fuel pressure up by the intake plenum.

Its a mystery and its not shooting any engine codes as well.

Put the key in the ignition, turn it to "On". Let it sit for 10 minutes, then try to start it. It's worth a try. Let us know if that works or not.

Make that 11 minutes, and change if you want to be extra sure.

I let the car sit for 11 minutes and tried to start it...nothing just cranks.

This may be important...

When the key is turned on there is no "check engine light"

Does this mean the computer is not being read. Could it be bad.

Also it starts when spraying either in the air intake. Leaving me to believe the injectors are not working due to the bad computer?

Thoughts...

Almost sounds as if it has tripped some sensor, and the crank says wait to start.
I have seen that a couple of times myself I just turned it off pulled the key and tried it again, a few times it took 4 tries.

have you tried unplugging the battery for 30 mins to reset the computer?

^All that does is reset your fuel trims. Nothing else.

i second that its some sensor issue. Is there any way you can read the computers diagnostics?

Could it be that your missing an important fuse?

or perhaps one blew

Could be, however something usually causes the fuse to blow & might have to determine the cause.
