what is the difference between the ramair v6 and the v6 h.o.
i got my car about 3 months ago and i noticed that my car has the badge up front that says "V6 H.O" but i under the hood it has the ramair by pontiac cover.
i have been looking at other gt and the badge up front says "ramair V6" on most ones i have seen

What is the difference?

I definitely wouldn't classify ll SE's as crap just because they are not GT's....that's a bit drastic

The H.O. is so much better. If I didn't own a 99 GA I don't know what my screen name and car theme would be. Hell, what would I get for a license plate? Damn, the horror!!!!

The HO has a better starter, alternator, spark plug wires, suspension, exhaust, and radiator, and a better A/C. My uncle works for GM and told me this.

100% false

Plug wires, suspension, exhaust, radiator and A/C are the same for all of the GT's, whether it be Ram Air or H.O. The H.O. and Ram Air badges were just marketing, they are the same. I'm sorry but your Uncle is a moron...so go figure, he works at GM.

lollollol

Then explain to me why the GM part numbers are the same for all years, regardless of if its a "HO" or "ramair"?

Yeah, that's what I'd like to know.

The previous comment is undeniably 100% false. Your uncle probably had nothing to do with the engine in that car. Check the part numbers for all that stuff. They are the same.

GM didn't improve the starter until '03 and then it was just the solenoid and not the starter itself. Alternator didn't change until '04 I believe and then all they did was move the positive power post, no actually difference in the alternator.

Spark plug wires, suspension, exhaust, radiator, A/C.... all that stuff is exactly the same. Only things that really changed between '99 and '00 was the EGR and the fuel injectors. '03 got a better water pump, and '04 got the new graphite head gaskets. That's most of the important changes.

Well, I've been working on these cars for 8 years, I've talked to engineers (in person) who designed them, I've seen them when they were getting built on the assembly line, and my dad is a parts manager at a GM dealership and I've had him check a lot of those parts numbers for me. Particularly since I've replaced over half of those parts on my car.
