Is this still a problem on 2004 model year Grand Ams? I kind of hope that most the bugs had been ironed out by 2004.

Apparently the one I am buying has never had any warranty work for that problem.

Just hoping that it will never have any problems!

Yes its still a problem.

Just because the intake gaskets weren't replaced under warranty doesn't mean they haven't been replaced at an aftermarket shop (Scary).

Just curious. You have an '07 Cobalt and want an '04 GA for...?

yes I have considered that..car was bought last off GM dealer in 08--so warranty was in effect then. Well I will cross my fingers.

My 07 Cobalt is a lease and it's going back in a few days.

I wanted and found a really nice Grand Am--in most respects it is a better car!
(most of that is personal preference) I am so tired of the Cobalt!

My wife had a new Grand Am GT back in 2000-she loved that car.

They had the new style gasket in all the 3400's by 2004, but it is still possible for it to go bad over time. It just didn't happen as fast as with the earlier design. I've found that a good LIM repair job done with a set of Felpro gaskets will make them pretty reliable though. It's not like the LIM gasket leak is a chronic problem that will never go away. ;)
