I found a 99 grand am gt for sale near me. It is like perfect shape all around, but it has a broken camshaft. Does that screw up the rest of the engine, or can you just put a new cam in it, and it be fine. I wasn't sure how much damage a broken camshaft would do to the rest of the engine. Anyone with expierence like this let me know thanks.

a broken cam can do Alot of damage. id pass on that engine. ic can make the cam journals out of round, bend valves, break pistons. the journal issue alone can make the block unusable. like i said, id pass

Good call. The 3400 is an interference motor, and damage to the valvetrain scares me. I had the timing chain spin on mine. It was not pretty. If it were cheap enough I would buy it and slap a new motor in it but it would need to be under $500.
