Hey,

I pulled my headlights out to change the lights and restore the lenses. First off, I don't know how you're supposed to pull out the retainer clips with your bare hands. They required a lot of shifting, and eventually needed pliers to pull the damn things out. So I restored a lens, replaced the lights, and now I can't seem to lock these headlights back in.

Details- On the left headlight (left from inside the car, right headlight when looking at the front bumper), I got the right clamp back in with no problems, but I can't get the left clip back down to secure the headlight in. Yes, I've lined up the rails on the plastic parts.

I seem to be having the same problem on the other side. The inside clip on each headlight is stuck up. Looking at the clips, I don't know how the hell they worked on the first place.

It seems like the plastic piece has two screw looking things that go through the plastic rail piece. It looks like one of the screw looking ends goes through the clip hole while it's up, and somehow it goes back down to lock in place. It's not going down.

I'm sorry if this is really vague, I'll get pictures if absolutely necessary (it's a small dark cramped place, pics will be hard). Has anybody had a problem like this, or knows a solution? Maybe even a ghetto rig? At this point, I just want the headlights to sit in and be secure.

Thanks,

Adam

Fixed. Horrible design with small thin metal pieces that bend out of shape.

Lock/delete thread please.

Ya its one of the better ones - you don't have to get dirty or fit your hand in some small hole trying to turn a bulb.

Oh. Well my clamps wouldn't come out so I had to jerk them really hard. I was restoring the headlight lenses so they came out and I got dirty anyways. Changed out the bulbs for Silverlights, looks a lot better now.

Gotta get the headlights aimed though, they're really screwed up.

the little screw posts that the clips attach to are the adjustment points turning the screws one way or the other will manipulate the headlight

ive removed mine like 3 times. it is a bad design. take a wire brush to the clips and they will go in a little easier. maybe some grease too. i wouldnt even attempt to remove or install these clips by hand.

if you have it aligned right going in they are super simple.

Make sure you seat the bottom adjuster properly

It's all lined up and in.

The problem turned out to be with the 2 inside clips (closest to the middle of the bumper). They weren't going up all the way, or at least enough to let the headlight piece in. I had to shimmy and work them up higher so that I could get the headlight in, and then drop them back down.
