I replaced the serpentine belt, two idler pulleys, and tensioner assembly on my son's 2002 GT today. After 120K miles I was concerned they may fail soon.

The old belt (factory original according to my son), the idlers, and the tensioner were still in very good shape. The belt had only a very few fine cracks across the ribs. The tensioner pulley bearing barely clicked when spun, but I had to listen carefully to hear it. There was no sound of wear from either of the idler pulleys.

I was surprised to find the parts in this condiiton.

Yeah, belt is probably more important to replace than the other stuff. The bearings and the pulleys them selves don't often get worn either. The case that holds the spring on the tensioner is known to crack and let the tensioner bounce a bit and click sometimes. Especially on higher stressed performance builds. I'm on my third tensioner and went with a non-OEM aftermarket brand for the last one that has a beefier case. The idler pulleys almost never go bad.
