View Full Version : Window motor/regulator??

I have been having problems off and on with the windows (which I have heard are a main problem with Grand Am's). They roll all the way up, very slowly, and stop about a half inch from the top. Is this a faulty motor ?

So should I just replace it?

Have you taken off the door panel to make sure it's not anything else?

Do a test. Pull off your door panel and then plug in your window switch again and start with the window all the way down. Then roll it up and help it out as it gets toward the top where it usually stops; just push up on it to take some stress off of the motor but don't push too hard where you end up breaking the window off of the regulator. If it won't go up at all then your regulator may be binding, otherwise your motor sounds like it is getting weak.

Haven't taken the door panel off yet. Scared to take the reflectors off because i heard the break really easy. My buddies grand am gt (a year older than mine) had the motors go all the way out on his, he said his did this to so i'm guessing the motors are getting wore out and just need to be replaced. I will make sure its the motor before I replace it tho.
