I'm looking to get a new set of front tires. My Nitto's just don't cut it in ANY snow. Tire Rack has these Sumitomo's that rate very well in the snow. Tread looks sissy-ish, but so does wrapping your car around a tree after sliding off the road. So anyway, does anyone have any first hand knowledge of these tires? I'll be looking at 235/45-17's.

Thanks Tony, WOW quick response. I'm prolly going to order up two of these on Saturday... I was going to get snows, but if you add up the mounting and balancing twice a year it = big $$$. I was also thinking about getting another set of rims for snows, but that is obviously big $$$ too. Seems that all seasons are the way to go. Thanks again:thumbs:

And how did Tont find out about them? Your welcome.
They are a great tire, Really good traction in all kinds of stuff. Plus ALOT quieter than the RSA's

The Tire Rack and FED Ex rock! I ordered my tires LATE Sunday night. They shipped them on Monday afternoon (late) and they got here about 2 hours ago. That's less than two days.
I'll get these bad boys mounted up tomorrow night before work. I guarantee that it will snow much less now that I will be able to get around better, guarantee it.
I said in the first post that the tread didn't look very aggressive...I was wrong. They look just mean enough...if that's important.
Thanks yet again Tony and Pucci

I've already asked Tony, but anyone with these tires please post as much opinion, treadwear info, traction, handling things as you can. I'm just thinking the ratings on Tirerack are too good to be true, cuz I'm looking for a High or Ultra High performance all season, and I've come up with very little that I'm interested in. Like I said, the ratings look too good to be true to me. As much as you can tell me, even if you just PM me, it'd be appreciated. Thanks.

Holy CRAP these tires RULE!! I got them put on last night before work. While at work it snowed a good 3-4 inches. With my Nitto tires on the front I woulda been screwed. These Sumi's ripped right through the snow without hesitation.
Only problem I have now is that the Nittos that were up front are now on the rear. My rear end was sliding around more than either my 1980 Z-28 or 1985 T/A ever did.....that's BAD!!!
Moral of my story? Sumi's Good, very good. Nittos Bad, they suck ass! wtf
*Edit* Holy Shizzle Tony.....1607 posts? You really are a PW!!!:D

the kuhmo 712's are i think all season, so u would be able to drive them in the snow. i am planning on getting these on saturday.
if your talking about the kuhmos being pricey, ive never seen a high price on them. the highest i have seen for them is like $103 a tire. a place by my house are 98 a piece, and my mom can get a discount on that too.
I should be getting my Sumitomo HTR+'s next week so I will let everyone know:thumbs: Also, Seth (iceman) has them on his car. He's had them for a little over 1,000 miles now.
On a side note: I've read tons of reviews on the kumho 712's that all mentioned their small life span. That is what discouraged me from buying them.
