I'm just simply looking for information that's legit and not just some opinion.. I plan on doing this to remove some rotating mass and lighten the motor.

I'm looking for information on what needs to be done to perform this modification. Possible quirks and changes that need to be made. Any information that would help make this possible would be very much appreciated.

I'm also inquiring with Mantapart with what needs to be done. Just looking for more information before they get back to me.

Wouldn't you need the motor balanced and blueprinted. Very expensive and should be worth about 10 whp.

He would, there are some oiling issues that need to be reslved since the balance shaft assembly is oiled under pressure. The only gain will be the loss of parasitic load and the loss in balance will be significant. The balance shaft assembly accounts for abount 90% of the vertical shaking force imbalance.

I've heard that the extra vibration created from removing the shafts would be more along the lines of the vibrations that were in the earlier 2.3L motors..

People do it all the time with DSM engines without balancing the rotating assembly, and those engines really don't shake that much more. I say do it, more power and faster revs
