My car will only run for about 2 seconds then dies. I've read that normally this is a passlock issue but I don't have the security light issue. It comes on during the bulb test then stays off even after the car starts then dies. I've checked the fuel pressure and it's good and constant. Any advise?

You mean coolant, correct? If so then I have already verified that there is no coolant loss/usage. I will check around and make sure nothing is unplugged though.

I just looked and found nothing unplugged that I didn't already know about. Any other suggestions?

is this the first time you've had this problem? I drove a sunfire for a while that would just randomly die while driving it and then just wouldn't start at all but never actually figured out the problem

Have never had this problem before. I don't think it's a cavalier/sunfire thing. IT does start about 1 out if every 20 times.

Sounds like a fuel pump not pumping. Can you put the key in the first positon and listen for the pump to kick on for a few seconds... If you don't hear it then it is possible your fuel pump is bad. Mine went out around 110,000 miles if I remember correctly. It did the same thing.

I think it could still be a security issue. I've seen this happen on a few grand am's even though the security light wasn't on. Need to hook a scanner up to it and see if there's a security DTC set.

Fuel pump primes at key on and even runs for a few seconds after the engine dies. Plenty of gas in it and the fuel pressure is a solid 48.

Can't get hte OBDII scanner to connect. The diagnostic port has power and ground. There's continuity in the blue class 2 wire from the bcm to the connector but the unit powers up snd then says "communication error". I'm thinking I'll go get another bcm and do a theft relearn to see if it has any effect.

Got a new BCM and installed it. Car starts and runs now. Still can't connect with the OBDII scanner. Ant ideas on what I can do to troubleshoot it?
