Hey since u know about this mine is. 99 gt v6 Can I put a 05 04 03 engine. Direct swap. I might just do that instead cuz. This ****en car keeps heating up.

I think you can put a 3400 out of a newer one in your's if you put your 99's upper intake manifold on the new engine. Don't quote me on that I've never swapped the engines in these cars. So I'm not the best person to ask on that matter.

No, you don't need to use your '99 upper intake manifold on a newer engine. The intake on the '00 up is a better design so you'd be better off using that. All you would need is the EGR valve and tube off a 00+. You'd re-use the injectors and harness off your '99, so that the PCM wouldn't need reprogramming. You'd probably need to have a CASE learn done though.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve. Allows small amounts of exhaust back into the intake under certain low throttle conditions to dilute the air charge. Helps emissions, fuel mileage, and controls combustion temps. They changed the design of the valve and the port on the upper intake manifold that it bolts to between '99 and 2000. The 2000 UIM is a better design as far as the EGR goes and the design of the inlet behind the throttle body.
